  1. Yikes, I was really close to ordering a tri-topped slide. Do you guys see the same issues with durability on a limited gun?

I would think any tri-topped slide has the chance of cracking. Doesn't matter if it's a open gun, limited gun, or a single stack. All depends on how deep the slide is tri-topped, recoil spring that is used, and probably the power factor of the ammo used.

*slowly slides credit card back in wallet* I'm glad I read this. Definitely warrants some more investigation... Thanks!

  2. Every one of my TTI mags would get stuck at 17 or 18 rds (should be 20rds of 40). I use an UPLULA once to push the rounds past whatever is holding them up, and after that they will hold 20 easily. Don't know what is going on, but with 10 different basepads its always the same story. Just cram them full once and you should be good to go. The damage at the bottom of the mag looks typical with a metalic floorplate. I use a knife and cut that tab off for easier removal and installation in the future. Good luck!

  3. That looks pretty cool. There's probably an easy way to blend that seam above the grip panel. Troupe is right. I can do grips about 3 times faster after my 6th or 7th one. That includes grinding, undercutting, etc. Keep it up! I dig whatever tool you used for that pattern.

  4. I think the viper series is WAY over rated I'm not a fan of the glass personally. In that price range, I would take a look at the Weaver tactical line which has much better glass. The reticles are not the best but overal I think it's a better optic. Also Burris' XTRII line with the SCR reticle seems to be a great optic for the price. If your dead set on a Vortex scope I'd save up for a first gen Razor.

I second the Burris XTR line. I've played with the 1-8, 2-10, 3-15 and 5-25. They are Philippines knock-offs of the Steiner Military series (which are AWESOME!), have great controls, usable reticles, and are definitely a good bang for the buck. They don't look like you're looking through a paper towel roll like the Vipers, either. Don't get me wrong, I love Vortex, but only if it says "Razor" on it.

  5. Contact a local gun store as well. Locally, most sponsors get their banner hung on a stage and mentioned in the WSB, and are also awarded a single slot (or two) for the match. This gets their name out there, brings a customer in the store to pick up the gun, and allows one of their employees to shoot free or a customer of theirs to be gifted a slot. If they do not take the free slot, it is given to a youth shooter.

  6. We have a local match that draws a decent number of PCC shooters. Most of those guys participated in the same club's steel match where subguns are allowed. The guys running the match take your position, that as long as it isn't FA in the USPSA match they don't care. Makes sense that you would be able to shoot them in semi-auto, and the guys here would likely DQ for accidental (or intentional) FA fire during the USPSA sanctioned match. I'm sure the DNROI would be happy to comment...

  7. A copious amount of dry fire in your basement should get most of the eye issues squared away. You may have some small vision issues that would not otherwise affect daily activities but may hinder pistol shooting, such as a slightly lazy eye (only an example) or both eyes see well but one is slightly more near-sighted than the other.

Dry fire should square the eyes away, but if not a visit to an eye doctor that likes shooting may be worth the trip. We have an eye doctor in town here that has a blue gun for that purpose, and often makes glasses for customers with a regular lens in one side and a 1.1x power lens in the other. Even if you think you don't have those issues, the fact that you are seeing the target twice (crossed eyes effect) implies a dominance issue.

All that said, my eyes do strange things. I focus my right eye on the front sight, and my left on the target... Don't ask.
