I have distance prescription (-3 diopter) in my Hunters Gold lenses, cut for STNGR frames (they can fit to most frames) Love their technology- highly recommend. Not cheap though.

Possibly disciplined by DNROI for alleged action while serving as an RO. Purportedly lost RO Cert, which is a requirement of the Presidential position. Hopefully transparent, open and effective communication from USPSA will be forthcoming.

- Production - Eliminate D4-9 (the 10-round restriction) Let the box fit determine capacity (it'll be 17 or 18, maybe 19 for some who push); eliminate the SAO prohibition inherent in Special Provision 1. Get rid of the flashlight bulls#!t (allow it, allow frame weights if people want, etc.) Setting the weight at 59 Oz lets people shoot their Shadows or their Glock 34 with a little weight added if they feel recoil dampening is their biggest concern, or keep it lighter if they think transitions matter most to them - either way levels the field by giving shooters affordable choices. 1911/2011 - Welcome!

2-4 weeks of solid, daily dryfire and you will find that dot much more easily. Your index (having the sights come right to your eyeline) will get better and better. Any of the divisions are fun, but Production (as is) has sadly moved ever toward extinction. CO is really a good time. You'll get past that fishing for the dot quickly if you do a lottle work.

I hear this "system is broken" from time to time, but rarely is a detailed explanation of what needs to be fixed offered. No doubt there is stratification across any given class. When I scan down results of a large match, most at the top are Gs, followed by Ms, ten As, and so on, with a fair number of paper classes doing worse, and baggers doing better. Broken--not really--imperfect? Yeah. People are involved. I think the system works well to track and identify improvement, but ceases to be as useful at the top end. When I am ROing, I'm generally (but not always) more comfortable with a G than a D.

So many choices...I got to say the Canik looks like a great answer for budget getting started. I've run through M&P CORE, Glock MOS, Walther Q5 SF, and an now starting to use a Beretta 92x RDO. No gun has made me better or really worse after some practice. Optic...not budget, but SRO seems to be the best. 3 Vortex venoms died on my M&P (great warranty-all replaced free), and switched to a Romeo3 XL on my Glock...great optic, but it is too big to fit on my Beretta. Trying out a Swampfox Justice green dot...I like it (reasonably big window, very inexpensive if you get a discount code, like We Like Shooting has. 50,000 round warranty), but durability unknown. Not a bad budget choice-3 MOA dot very bright even in sun. Enjoy.

Right... been through many bylaws review processes in a variety of non-profits, and best practices already include a legislative version (showing changes with strikethrough and underscore). Not doing so makes review so much harder... like maybe someone didn't really want review comments.

My Natchez order for 7,000 Federal SPP was supposed to have arrived Monday...then today....now seemingly disappeared from FedEx's system. Might want to ship UPS if you have a choice - 1K limited orders of CCI primers from Midway and Brownells each arrived safely via UPS - but I know they have had challenges too.

Practical Shooting Training Group (PSTG). May seem like a lot of money, but if you want to get better, and you do what they suggest, you will get better. Dry fire is gold, but only if you pay it proper attention and respect. Good luck.

I cycled from an M&P CORE to a Walther Q5 Match Steel Frame to now a Gen5 G34 Glock MOS. The heavier Walther was easier one handed, but otherwise no apparent advantage. It was a bit ammo temperamental (fine once I got it tuned/sprung right -and no - "from the factory" wasn't USPSA reliable) and it was hard on my thumb knuckle - personal problem. The point being that I did a fair amount of side by side comparison (doubles, transitions, etc.) and if there was a significant difference over many trials, I couldn't see it - YMMV! Once I got over not loving the Walther, my gen 1 M&Ps were getting ragged and rattly, but I liked them - so the debate was M&P 2.0 vs Gen 5 G34. I received a Romeo 3XL as a gift, and the MOS looked to be a better option (I could get a plate to mount it). I just picked up another G34 for a backup, so I guess I am now committed - I like how it points in my hands, and I seem to get the best recoil control response with it. All that said - I have become convinced that in terms of improving performance - Gear is somewhere between 1-5% (meaning it runs!) / Effort 95 - 99%. In the scheme of playing the game - the gun cost is just a fraction, so get what you want.

No doubt that the quality of safety checks when a person first starts vary a great deal. My personal experience was very thorough. It started with how you arrive to the range, safety areas, and proceeded to the four rules, range officers and their commands, the sequence of squads. Emphasis on safety was huge. We then did a simulated make ready sequence dry, shot a stage (dry), through if clear hammer down holster. Then repeat hot. I felt fully prepared. To your original point, my guess is that everyone may not get that quality. More info here:

Made my own out of brass. Works fine. Not quite as weighty as the tungston ones, but waaaay cheaper. Never went to a WML for competition, so they just sit around looking pretty.
