  1. Is Viht expensive? It's all about the resolution through which you look at it. Sure, it's not THAT much more expensive per round, but I don't buy powder by the round. I buy by the pound, typically 16-24 pounds at a time, and when I can buy 24 pounds of Bullseye for $378 OR I can buy 24 pounds of N320 for $660, I'm buying the Bullseye. It's not even a question. And that's IF all else is equal, which it is not. I find Bullseye to outperform N320 in the area I care most about: accuracy. N320 is inarguably very good powder, but I have not found it to be any better than a number of other very good powders that are significantly less expensive.

As for Titegroup, it's all right. I've loaded a lot of it. It's good. Not great.

The most accurate loads I've produced in 9mm with faster burning "soft-shooting" powders have been with Bullseye and America Select. I love them both.

    124/147? Coated or plated

  2. If your shooting major matches, you should have 2. It's a good investment to get a back-up when needed (breaking parts). Think about the fees you paid for a major match (hotel, air fair, & car rental if it's an out of town), those $$$ will go to waste if your gun broke down and you don't have any back-up gun to continue/finish the entire match.

Tuning one Tanfo alone an expensive hobby B) 2 is a good number.. More money major match, ammo...

  3. I have 2. One for practice, another for matches (both bought last yr). I shot around 40k with my practice gun. It's not blown up yet.

I think 4 isn't necessary unless you are Eric G.

2 will be a good number if you shoot less than 100k per year.

    No back-up for my rig

Wow 40k! I won't reach that number in two years, lol. I will just get a back up and spend the $ on ammo.

  4. If you just shoot production how many Stock 2 should you own? One for match, one for dry fire and one for back up and one just in case.

I"m sure there are folks here who own more than one Tanfo:) Does anybody also have back up holster and mag punch set up?

  5. Should i sell my CZ and just stick to Tanfo?

I don't see why not. I have tiny hands and yet Tanfos fit my hands better than CZs - contrary to common belief, CZs triggers have much longer reach in DA position than Tanfos.

Plus insane checkering, Xtreme parts and BOLO disco, you can get your Tanfo DA to sub 5# and SA to sub 2# with little to no pre-travel. Besides, these unicorns are selling for <$900 a lot of places now. We will see more and more aftermarket parts becoming available that will make Tanfos popular in the states. The last major match I went to, 4 out of 5 Production GMs are shooing Stock 2s/Limited Pros.

I was thinking same thing - <$900 not in our hood more like $1500> I really like the feel and it points naturally for me.

  6. Having heard good things about Prima V using it for 9mm (9x19) I bought 5 1.1 lb. bottles from Grafs last week when they had free shipping just to try it. I first tried 3.4 grs of Prima V using 135 gr. Bayou LRN at 1.132" OAL . Across the chrono I got 980 fps with 9 ES with my Trojan 5" with decent grouping at 20 yds . With a 4" 1911 that I use in CCP division I got 964 fps with a ES of 19 (same load) and was really surprised with a nice 1 1/2" group at 20 yds off of a sandbag . I may try 3.5 grs just to see but I think I nailed it the first time with 3.4 grs for both pistols. Hopefully will get to try it in a local match this weekend.

Give us some feedback after your match

  7. I'm all over the place ! 147 feels "mushy", 124 feel good, but maybe a bit too snappy. Have a trial hundred 135s and they seem to be about right.

Really, it's just personal preference. Best thing is to try and see what you like.

    Let the trial begin

  8. I'm starting to see improvements in my scores soon after incorporating visualization into practices and matches. Improvements have come in the way of higher accuracy(less points down) and just one mental mistake. Although my sample size is small, ten matches, the improvements are obvious. My overall speed is the same but now I'm seeing the COF and seeing my sights line up as I'm looking at the targets.
My mind is calmer. I can hear everything. At a match two weeks ago, I can hear the guys chatting behind me right before the buzzer and while I'm shooting. CORRECTION: I was listening to the guys comment on my shooting AS I was shooting. I find that I can switch between thoughts and tasks easier and faster. On one stage(same match), I lost my mental round count preparing for a reload and found myself mentally counting targets I shot WHILE engaging a target then transitioning to the next shooting position. I scored towards the top just below M, EX and top SS shooters( Currently SS ). I'm not sure if I picked up bad habits but these are things I observed I'm doing lately.
My "To Do" list includes: improve visualization by increasing the amount of detail and increase speed in practice(which I hope to translate to speed in matches).
    Simple enough :D

How do you do this? Any guidance for the newb
