  1. I have ran mine with .40 minor and major to include federal factory 180 and had zero issues with the gun so far. I have had a issue with the nickel para P16 mags from midway and Dawson plates. They are to short and won't lock up without a good smacking, seems the mag being short causes the base plate to hit the mag well.

Now the factory ACT mags from Greg Cotes are 100% so far.

What basepads are you running on the mags?

Sorry for the delay. I have Dawson's on all the mags

  3. What is the general consensus on these? For the people that own an STI how does it stack up? Coming from a Glock the 1911/2011 platform is new to me. Was wondering if I could save $1000 on the STI by going with this. Looking for someone's honest opinion on how accurate it is. From my understand the ejector is the weak point. I see that Hayes custom guns offers a "reliability package". I just want something that will shoot and not leave me disappointed.

I just picked a Ultra Match up. Ran it like a rented mule for 100 or so rounds, American Eagle 180gr, and it felt good and was reliable. I know 100 reds isn't that much but it was a hard 100.

I'm in Oxford and will be at the CMP USPSA matches feel free to shoot mine if your there.

  4. Well I'm new to 3gun but I'm 20 years in LE with 16 in Tactical operations. I have banged steel, standard sized uspsa style out past 300 with a 12.5" on up to a 18". the one thing i teach new operators is the rifle is a tool and with any tool you should know what it will do when used properly. now i prefer a 14.5 pinned of most any type as i never have needed to shoot sub-MOA with a 5.56 anyway.

And I'm sure others have said this but it really depends on your environment. Here in Alabama much over 150 yards is a stretch for most matches, or so i hear.
