  1. Just got back from the range with some chrono data on my Glock 26 gen5.  I'm working up a reliable IDPA BUG load trying to get close to 95PF.  Here's what I got...

    Bayou 145 RN

    2.7 grains of VV320

    1.13" OAL

    Federal Primers

    729.9 10 shot average = 105.8 PF (SD of 14.8, ES of 44.1)

This load WILL NOT cycle the OEM 16 pound recoil spring but it did cycle a 14 pound reduced power spring with 100% reliability.  I don't think I can go any lower than 2.7 unless someone knows where I can get a 10 or 11 pound spring for a G26!  Lowest I've been able to find is 14 pounds.

2.8 grains yielded 734.6 average = 106.5 PF (SD of 16.8, ES of 63.2) and same recoil spring results.  Kind of surprised by that since I usually see ~25 FPS difference per 0.1 grain of powder on my full sized pistols.

Anyways, I hope this helps some other BUG competitors out there.

  2. Went last year and going this year.  Challenging stages last year and it was pretty hot and humid.  I expect the same this year.  I ended up with a DNF since my IDPA "legal" Zev magwell didn't fit in the box on a G34.  Yes, I was pretty pissed but ultimately it was my fault for not verifying!  They are not releasing the stage cof descriptions ahead of the match this year which seems kind of strange to me.  I'm on squad 45.  Hope to see you there!

  3. Fellas,

I posted my experience with Johnny Glocks based on what it was....very positive.  I had no knowledge of past experiences others may have had with him.  After watching his numerous videos on YouTube, I believed, and still do, the guy knows what the hell he's doing and made the decision to give him a try.  I'm happy I did.

Swanny10:  Not trying to be elusive.  I paid $280.  Reason I didn't post that is because I didn't feel like reading the "you're an idiot" comments that we all know would be posted.  So let me save you the trouble.  It ain't your money and I don't give a f*ck if you think I'm an idiot for spending that on a Glock trigger.  When I called him, I didn't get an answer either but did leave a message.  He called me back later that night.  We had a great discussion about what exactly I wanted the trigger to be like and the ball was rolling.  What I got back from him exceeded my expectations.

Sarge:  No, I didn't get a price break but thanks for questioning my integrity without even knowing me.

Bowenbuilt:  I know, you warned me dude, but I don't usually let things go!  Again, I don't know any of the history here.  But Johnny absolutely treated me right.

Not sure this is appropriate to share or not and I hope Johnny doesn't get upset with me for doing so but I know he's been battling a health issue the last six months. He won that battle and is now trying to get back into more work.  Not offering that as an excuse but maybe that would explain some of the issues others had.  Don't know.

Again, based on my experience with him, I recommend him.  In fact, I like the trigger he did on my 34 so much I'm getting ready to send him my 19.

Advice is pretty cheap on here.  You can take it or leave it.  I don't have any bullshit hidden agendas.  All I wanted to do was help my fellow shooters out with some first hand knowledge.

  4. Just got my 34 back from him and all I can say is "Wow!"

Super responsive via phone and very quick turnaround time.  What I got back from him was an amazing trigger with zero take up, crisp glass break, no over travel, and a short, positive reset.  Basically, everything I wanted my Glock trigger to behave like, he produced.  Let me put it this way...a small part of my competitive thinking was reluctant to share how good this trigger is.  I'll leave it at that.  If that doesn't convince you, word is he does trigger work for some serious big name shooters we would all recognize.

  5. Put this on the CZ pistol section and decided to add it here as well....

CZ-75 Shadow (#91715) from CZC, all the bells and whistles, factory mags, ~800 rounds through the gun.

Working up a load for the Zero 147gr JHP.  Arrived at 3.5gr of N-320 which gives me a very consistent (SD of 7) velocity of 887 FPS (130 PF).  Max OAL with this bullet was a way long 1.1813 which is obviously not going to work even after subtracting .015 from it.  Apparently, my barrel has been reamed at some point but I didn't get an affirmative "yes" from CZC that they were the ones who did it (???).  So I started at 1.135 and worked up to 1.155, 100 rounds total, measured each round then shot them in similar length blocks of 10, looking for an obvious increase in accuracy at 25yds.

The fun began after loading the magazine with 10 rounds.  I tried multiple mags.

After 4-5 shots, the cuts on the hollow point section of the Zero bullets would "hang up" and nose dive internally on the magazine notch which locks the mag into the gun.  Here's what's making me scratch my head...

    1.135-1.1395 No issues

    1.141 and 1.143 Hang up

    1.144-1.146 No issues

    1.1465 Hang up

    1.147 No issues

    1.1485 Hang up

1.149-1.155 No issues shooting over 30 rounds here

The definition of inconsistency!  Velocities were essentially the same on all shots but I did see a tightening group at the 1.147-1.148 range. So I guess I'll try shorter than 1.135 and shoot some more 1.147 and 1.150s to see if they remain reliable.

Anyone else experience this or have any recommendations/solutions to offer?

  7. My Shadow likes MG124 JHP's. If I rember this is at 18 yards.

CZ85Combat, what are you using under those MG124's? What OAL? Was this off a rest or free hand?

  8. Decided to go the same route you did Raven. My 75 Shadow is being built and Stuart was kind enough to indulge me on this sight option. Only difference is I'm going .150 wide and .130 deep on the rear. Same front as you did for the older eyes!
