I have used with xtreme 124s 3.9 grains of n320, 1.150,& federal primer. Chronoed about 960fps in 50 degree weather. Worked great in glocks and xdm.
Oh by the way, 1.150 was with rn not hp

when you say ww, is that winchester white box by chance? In the past week I found 3 split cases in my brass box. All 3 were stamped winOut of 40,000 9mm Major rounds, I've had three (3) split on me -
two were WW, and I suspect the third was also WW.
I had just had my gun worked on by a gunsmith, and had three
of these splits in succession - about 3-4 years ago - none since.
The gun, and I, were unharmed - lots of smoke/grit but no
injuries.

Some are flatter than others. Yes the slide goes back but leaves spent casing in the chamber.

1.155, 6.8 gn cfe, fed small rifle primer, montana gold 124. Have some flattening on the primers but nothing terrible. Shooting minor with 7lb spring and different guide rod, it doesn't happen.Very interesting, what is your CFE load? (charge/bullet/OAL) How do the primers look?
Your issue sounds more like an extractor problem than a over pressure problem.

It's an sti match master. I tried cfe but seems to maybe be making too much preasure. I was having some cases that aren't ejecting out of the chamber. I have to drop mag and rack slide again to remove them.In a Tanfoglio with a 4.1" barrel I made 167pf with 7.8gr of HS6 under a 124gr Xtreme RN at 1.160", also with 7.1gr under a 135gr. I could have probably made major with a 115, but that might be a little nasty out of such a short gun
My Tanfoglio barrels are faster than my STI/Schumann/KKM 2011 barrels and plated bullets are faster than jacketed, so your data may vary. What type of pistol/barrel/bullet are you using?
Anything slower than HS6 is going to take a lot of powder, but you might also find success with WAC, CFE or Silhouette (I don't recommend any faster burning powders)

Just wondering what powder people are using to get their short barrel open gun to hit 9mm major.

Ok so it seems like some of you do keep it and reload it successfully. Good to know. Thank you.

only problem i have with titegroup is its dirty. Try n320Many myths out there. What's the problem with TG?
I've shot maybe 20K rounds with coated 147s out of my CZ Shadow and don't notice much smoke. Also 180s in my Limited gun. And my fiber optic front sight hasn't melted. And the gun doesn't get so hot I have to put it in a cooler with dry ice (although a cold drink is a good idea on a hot day).
(BTW, any coated bullets will smoke if you don't use enough flare on the case and it shaves the coating. I use .010- .015" flare, works just fine.)

When I was loading titegroup for my glock 34, I did 1.160, 3.2 gn, 147 x-treme. In 50° weather it gave me average of 876fps

I've heard mixed opinions on reloading 9mm major brass. Do you guys keep your spent 9mm major brass and reload it or leave it?

the 100s hitting below the feed ramp was probably because the ammo isn't making enough power to push slide back all the way. As for your col. 2011s like em long haha. Most people I know shooting stis are using 1.150 to 1.165The powder is a medium fast burn with 2.8 it is all clean no left over powder. The 100gn were hitting the feed ramp just below the chamber on the Swc edge. I tuned the mags but then the would drive into the top of the chamber. OAL was 1.065 that's as long as can go as they have a lube groove. The 115 I have no feed issues OAL is 1.115 just get the odd 5-6 spent case with a small dent in the middle of the case.
My PF is on the higher side a lot run down at 84000. The matches we shoot are more bullseye at 50yrds and 25yrds. My gun is a STI edge I can feel the difference in power between the 2 weights just not sure if using the 6lb Spring will pound anything.
I also shoot service restricted which has a PF of 120 but have mine at 125 to make sure it's good all yr round.
Accuracy at 50yrd is 2.5" of a range bag on a proper rest prob be less.
Thanks

I'm not familiar with that powder but 2.8gn of any powder sounds too light for even a 115 not to mention a 100. I would think that is the problem. What kind of jams were you getting and what your oal? Also, why does it take so long to get a 7lb? Call dawson.

My glock 34 I have always used 1.150. Feeds flawlessly

Hi just wondering what people have been using for 9mm major in their matchmasters? Preferably with either autocomp or cfe pistol with a 124gr bullet.
Just bought a xl650 for my first reloader
in 9mm/38 Caliber

Typically for a softer recoil, you want a heavy bullet with a fast burning powder. N320 and titegroup are both good for that. Problem with n320 is the cost and harder to find. Problem with titegroup is there isn't much room for error. It has a small window for min/max powder charge. If your gun doesn't have any ports in the barrel or have a compensator, the powders that use a smaller powder charge typically make less gas and will create less muzzle flip. If your gun does have ports on barrel or compensator, the powders that require a higher powder charge will typically make more gas and make the compensator/ports work better for less flip. If your looking at making a soft shooting round, I would suggest even stepping up to a 147gr. Primers you are usually ok with any of them if the gun isn't modified. Guns with lighter springs tend to not like the cci primers. They are harder to ignite.
