Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. In the IPSC Handgun rule 2006, a new supplement to the rule 4.1.4.1 stating that "Whole paper targets must not be used solely as hard cover." What does it exactly mean? Paper targets refer to scoring paper target or penalty paper target? Thanks.
  2. Wa!Wa! That should be one of the extreme case. So is it a valid shot?
  3. Can anyone advise whether it's a valid shot to count for score / penalty for a bullet to hit a paper target at an angle e.g. 80 degree sideway - but of course less than the 90 degree. There may be an enlarged hole on the paper target bigger than the circular bullet hole caused by a bullet when we take a shot with target upright facing us. And can the term ‘bullet diameter’ as stated in rule 9.5.2 refer to the two sides of the enlarged hole on the paper target caused by the bullet diameter or is it referring to a nice circular bullet diameter?
  4. As reference to my previous query about the definition of 'more than one step', please note that it's been confirmed by Mr Vince Pinto that as soon as you lift the second foot you are starting to take a second step - that is already more than one step. Information for all to share.
  5. May I know whether the terms condition 1, 2 and 3 are still in used? From where I can find their official definition as I can't find them out from the rule book? Thanks.
  6. Thanks for the advice. However, according to IPSC Handgun rule January 2004 version, item 10.2.1 and 10.2.3, both Procedural Penalties will be incurred for competitor who fires beyond a Fault or Charge Line. Some examples for all to share: - use fault line all the way through http://www.ipsc.de/pdf/stages_stiopen_2004...iopen_2004' - confusing about the use of fault line and charge line? http://www.ipscbc.org/alberta_match.pdf#se...tch%20ipsc' - some good example? http://www.ipscnsw.org.au/Downloads/Nats03ver04.ppt - how about this? http://www.chebucto.ns.ca/Recreation/AMA/I...rov_Stages' A new query: As for Fault Lines, they are deemed to extend rearwards to infinity. The same sentence did not appear at the definition of Charge line so Charge Line should not take this assumption - can only stick with its physical lenght. Correct?
  7. Even though I can find different definition for Charge Line (item 2.2.1.1) and Fault Line (2.2.1.2) in the IPSC handbook, I don't really understand the exact meaning of them even after checking on a number of IPSC competition stages for the past few years. I've seen some matches used only fault line for all the stages, some matches adopted both but I can't match their usage with the definition as stated in the handbook. Would anyone help? Thanks.
  8. Firstly thanks for the valuable ideas. For item 8.5.1, seems that there are different viewpoints regarding this one. However, having a more careful look at item 10.5.10, penalty of ‘match disqualification’ will be incur if failure to keep finger out of the trigger guard during movement’. So, I tend to believe that it is not a ‘must’ to engage any safety as there is no penalty clause for not doing that. A new related question, does anyone know what exactly is ‘taking more than one step’? E.g. 2 feet on the floor, when one of the feet lifts up and steps down to the floor (that is one step), another foot now lifts up and starts moving but not yet steps down to the floor – is this ‘taking more than one step’? Or this should apply only if this foot has also stepped down to the floor? For item 9.1.5.3 & 9.1.5.4 – understand the situation now. Thanks. A new related general question, a paper scoring target with broken outer perforation should be counted as a ‘Delta’, correct?
  9. I recently read through the IPSC Handgun competition rules (January 2004 edition) and find a few points that would require some experts' kind clarifications: 1. Item 8.5 Movement, Except when the competitor is actually aiming or shooting at targets, all movement must be accoplished with the fingers visibly outside the trigger guard and the safety should be engaged. Question: Is it a must for the safety to be engaged or just a suggestion, as I realize that the word 'should' has been used? Also, is safety here refers to Grip safety or Thumb safety or both? 2. Item 9.1.5.3 and 9.1.5.4, I've heard that 'Bullet strikes partially within the scoring area of a paper target means that the extreme outer perforation of the scoring area of the "front" target is broken. Is it correct? However, I don't quite understand the situation when 'Bullet strikes partially within the scoring area of a metal target'. Would anyone please elaborate? Thanks.
