Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Thanks for the comments and suggestions. So for best overall results I should remove the rear sight and rail and install a 21" barrel with a fibre optic bead. I guess the only downside is losing the precision for those rare slug stages. I will go down to the shop and price this option up. Thanks again.
  2. Thanks for all the replies. My primary use for this will be 3gun but I would like to hit clays that occur on a 3gun course, not to make it into something it isn't. If getting good at sporting clays was my goal I think that clearly, a purpose built gun would be the ticket. Changing barrels is not really an option because I would also have to ditch the rear sight and the pictinney rail might also obscure the front sight. If making these modifications would make it a better 3gun type weapon I would gladly do them though. Irishlad, I think you are right that I probably didn't follow through, but the other problem was the clays would disappear behind the protection posts on either side of the front sight. There was so much crap impairing my view of the clay both front and back that half the shots I didn't really see the clay in time to even line up on it properly. I have considered sticking an eotech on the rail for strictly for shooting sporting clays, but even if that works it wouldn't solve my problem of hitting clays during 3gun since I shoot standard.
  3. I shoot 3 gun comps and have had trouble with the occasional clays that were in the competitions, so when a neighbor asked me to go along to the big preseason sporting clays shoot I thought it would be good practice. I used my Benelli M4 (with standard stock - no pistol grip) 18.5" barrel and the modified choke that came with it (3 notches). I shot very poorly with 24 out of 100 (12 & 12) and had a hard time lining up on the clays with the rifle sights. After we were done my neighbor let me try his shotgun (a Benelli 28" barrel with a red fibre optic bead and no rear sight). I shot 8 of ten including all doubles and report shots. I found the single bead to be much better since it didn't obscure my vision as the rifle sights did. Is there anything I can do to my M4 so that I can use it in clays and 3Gun without changing barrels each time, like better sights, a different choke, etc? Thanks for any comments.
  4. Thanks Bill. That thread is exactly the problem I am having with WinMss. I am in contact with Chris and hope to have this resolved before our match.
  5. Appendex C3 of Rifle rules allows double value for metal targets. I know that several 3gun events here have run with an assortment of scoring methods and have even run mixed gun events (definitly not out of the IPSC rules). I was trying to stick to the rules as close as possible. However, if ezws gets the same results and can generate tournament results, I'm in since I still can't get the latest Winmss to generate tourney results.
  6. Well, I was told we were supposed to use Winmss but if the other system produces the same results I don't see why we couldn't switch. Where do you download the ezws from? Does it allow high value targets (long range flashers)? Thanks for the response.
  7. We are setting up a small one day 3 gun event which is to be run to IPSC rules as 3 gun tournement. Last year we got good results from each match using this system but were unable to get overall tournement scores. Has any one else had these problems and how did you get around it? Thanks for any help!
