Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I thought it was strongly recommended to NOT tumble live ammunition.
  2. This may be a dumb question but what's wrong with leaving the case lube on, especially Dillon's case lube?
  3. After just picking up a Dillon RL1000 (later manufacture) I came to appreciate its quality build. The only feature that I don't like about it is the lack of a case activated powder dispenser, which I believe is on the Super 1050. Is the Super 1050 otherwise built as well as the 1000?
  4. Thanks again! I'll call Dillon this morning.
  5. Anyone know where I can find a .45 ACP expander plug for an RL1000? I also need a primer station locator tab.
  6. I have an older Dillon case feeder on my RL1000, the one with pins that stick out from the disc. How do you set it up for handling .45 ACP cases? Distance between the pins? Opening width at the chute?
  7. As mentioned above the expander is built into the base of the powder measure but functions in another station. The adjusting screw is somewhat difficult to access but after giving it more thought that shouldn't be a problem because it's not something that needs adjusting often, especially if only one caliber and case manufacturer is involved. So, I'll probably stick with the stock setup for now. However, should I later decide otherwise couldn't a separate die be used in the space assigned to the primer swage? I've never seen a 1050 but as mentioned earlier the RL1000 is a fantastically built machine. The only drawback with the design that I can see so far is that the powder measure is not case activated. I don't how much of a problem that will be for me if any. I also have 2 Dillon XL650s and have probably become spoiled when it comes to a powder measure. But back to my question on the dies, any comments or suggestions on whether to go with Dillon or another manufacturers dies? I have no complaints on the Dillon dies as they have performed great but adjusting them when changing bullet types is a bit of a pain. They would be ideal if adjustments could be made on the fly with a top mounted adjusting screw or micrometer.
  8. I recently picked up a Dillon RL1000 and would like to set it up with some new 45 ACP dies. I've narrowed it down to either Redding or Dillon. I like the Dillon dies for the reliability of the sizing/depriming die and ease of cleaning of the other two but all of them seem more difficult to adjust than the Redding dies. The Redding dies on the other hand have the micrometer adjustment available on the seating and crimp dies. I'm also thinking of using a separate die for expanding the case mouth instead of using the one that's on the powder measure assembly. Any comments or suggestions? Incidentally, this is one nice press.
  9. Thanks! The RL1000 is a really nice loader. Nice job Dillon.
  10. Thanks for the response and that makes sense. But are they supposed slip down on the low side and rub against the housing?
  11. The case feeder on the Dillon RL1000 that I just purchased has pins radiating outward from the rotating round plate. Are these supposed to be fixed in the plate or loose and allowed to slide freely against the housing?
