  1. Agreed that Ikea table looks sketchy for what you're talking about.  Smallest and lightest thing I've put a press on (Dillon xl650 w. case feeder/Inline Fab. QD mount) is one of these https://www.lowes.com/pd/Kobalt-45-in-W-x-36-in-H-2-Drawer-Hardwood-Work-Bench/1000372217

Not too much of a footprint difference if I'm reading the Ikea table dimensions right.

Home reloading doesn't have to be filthy with heavy fumes; but expect to be working with and cleaning up stuff like grease, oil, case lube spray, tiny bits of brass, powder grains, bullet coating material and lead (depending on what types of bullets you load), etc. getting on the press and bench.

https://iabrass.com has all you want in stock.

Northwest Iowa Brass, you can find them on ammoseek.

    +1 for them.

Also have bought in recent years from elitereloading.com.  Elite's prices can be higher than other, but I've been pleased with the consistently low % of crimped, crap, or other cals in their mixes.

  3. I recommend these https://www.kohls.com/product/prd-2909260/mens-urban-pipeline-ripstop-cargo-shorts.jsp?color=Oh Khaki&prdPV=7  from Kohls.

Good pockets that don't stick out. Hit above the knee (I'm 6'03" ymmv). Stretchy waistband for holding tucked shirts and minimizing your man handles.  High quality zipper facilitates quick leaks.  Light material and inner mesh are nice during those summer matches when you're sweating your junk off.  Dirt and crud wash out better than with cotton drawers.

  4. Them: "Wat u do?"

    Me:  "Competitive pistol shooting... USPSA."

    Them:  "Wat that?"

Me:  "It's like putt putt golf courses, but with running and a pistol."

    Them:  "Wat look like?"

Me:  "Search 'USPSA' on Youtube and click a few vids.  Skip the ones featuring heavy mouth breathing and plumbers' cracks.  Watch the ones with Ben Stoeger to develop your baller envy, and Taran Butler to find out where all the hot chicks that aren't at our clubs go."

I'm getting ready to get into USPSA.  I've only been reloading for 6 months now and have only loaded Bayou 147's.  I've seen people shooting 124's, 147's and everything in between.  What's everyone's personal preference to load for quick/fast shooting?

I prefer 135s or 124s.  But my gun shoots 147s more accurately enough to matter, so that's what I use.

After a very very very frustrating few months I settled on this combo:

    Redding dual ring sizer

    Mr bullet feeder powder funnel/expander

    Redding competition seating die

Sill using the dillon crimp die.

I crank ammo out like its my job now without any trouble.

Are you me?  :surprise:  Same exact story and final setup.  That MBF funnel is the shizzle.

  7. Personal preference is DAA belts and pouches (Racers) over CR Speed.  Some guys I shoot with grabbed Shooters Connection belts.  They like 'em and they cost less.

That stock holster hanger works alright but you'd be glad you got a BOSS.  It's stable as hell and adjusts nicely.

I dig the big screen on top of the Comp. Electronics pocket pro II.  Easy for solo live or dry fire practice.

Cool you're getting back into it, have fun!

Just seeing what you guys are using. My current setup is a Dillon resize die, Lee seater and crimp die. Want to have a second toolhead just for comp loads. Hate switching all my settings to load 40 ammo for my Glock's and XDs. Was thinking about going with Dillon sizer, Redding comp seater micrometer and lee factory crimp die for the comp toolhead. Let me know what y'all have. This is for a Dillon 650 press. I also run all my brass through a grx push die so I don't have to use a u die for resizing.

Also a 650: Machined/clamped-down tool head; Redding dual-ring sizer/decapper; Dillon powder with MBF funnel (love this thing); Redding comp seater/micrometer; Dillon crimp.

When you pick up range scavenged brass you're picking up brass that I shot that is nearing the end of its useful life with primer pockets that are starting to loosen up and stuff.  Have fun loading it.

Just buy once fired brass from somewhere that is likely to actually be fired only one time like an indoor range.  Then you aren't reloading garbage.

Ah, so it's YOU!  Seriously though I agree with this.  Bigass bags of once-fired are the way to go.

I'll pick up my own after a solo practice but don't grab randos much anymore unless someone left a pile that looks good.  So much is trash or in the what the hell category.

Thinking about wet tumbling my pistol brass that I use for matches.. I'm talking about going the extra mile and popping out primers before, the whole 9 yards. I figure it couldn't hurt to give the brass a little more "slick" feeling for feeding along with consistent primer depths because all the garbage is out before hand.

    Does anyone do this?

I did with a couple thousand to see if it mattered any vs. depriming after tumbling.  Other than shinier pockets, nope.

After a wet tumble, what do you do with the hazardous waste water?

Drink it to absorb the essence of all the blown out 9 mjr brass I accidentally left in, for more explosive movement and speed.
