Bringing this thread back from the grave! I recently shot the IPSC Nationals and put up my best IPSC/USPSA finish to date. I only made three real mistakes all match:
1. Mike on a swinger from hell, it was mostly blind and covered by no shoots and hard cover. I had a terrible time figuring out when to pull the trigger - My round actually did hit the paper, but it was outside the perf
2. Poorly timed another swinger and sat there like an idiot waiting for it to come around again, I had plenty of time to shoot it in the first place, but just wasn't ready to do so. It was a co-located bay and we went right from one stage to the next. I didn't pay enough attention to the swinger timing when the 1st shooter was up, I was the 2nd shooter in queue.
3. Short stroked the trigger on one target, luckily it was an early trigger pull on that moon clip and didn't cost much time to cycle it 1-2 more times.
Overall, I shot a little slower than I should have, but it was pouring rain and I was concerned about controlling the gun and getting my hits. Rich pulled out a nice win, and it appears we shot nearly identical points, he was just ~1 sec faster on every single stage. Better luck next year!

You can mill off about 4 oz pretty easily. I went buck wild and did an ovate barrel on mine. TK does Colt style cuts to lighten it. MWP also has carbon barrels. Lots of options

To be clear, my 1st-person and 3rd-person footage is of
#4#5 (I might not like the result of Vincent pulling out a stage win on 7 to pip me to the line by three match points, but I can't deny it was clutch!).It's always nice seeing footage from the folks to whom I'm still giving up a bit of time, though! Helps to direct practice.
Yes, I realized after I hit the submit button you meant 1st and 3rd point of view. It seems you replied about the same time I edited my post. Funny timing.

I haven't gone over it in detail yet, but I think I have 1st and 3rd-person footage of everything, which will eventually make it online.
Excellent

Wish I saw this earlier. I have some footage I can post, it rained so much my camera stopped working after half the match. I'll round it up tomorrow.

I shot the IRC, it was the nicest single venue I have ever been to in terms of total package. Food was good and reasonably priced, scenery was amazing, the range facilities were top notch. I wish I brought a long-rang rifle with me and stayed a few more days. 2,000 yard rifle range was something to behold! The big-bore rifles echoing through the property all day was something special. The last-minute cancelled leg from GJT to DEN was not ideal, but I was glad @testosterone had room in the van!
I'm planning to shoot both IRC and WRC next year.
At this year's IRC it was announced that Ken would have it in PA next year. Last I heard he was sorting out final approval on match dates with his home club. I am really looking forward to him hosting again. He knows how to run a solid ICORE match.
USPSA announced Sept. 13-15th at CMP for Revo Nats
Facebook thread says WRC will either be July at Morrow Bay or first weekend in October in Fallon. I am hoping for Morrow Bay because everyone raves about it, I have never been.

Curious, do you use spent cases or snap caps when you dry fire? These sort of failures are exceedingly rare.

Don't discount the sight being off square or level too, I have encountered this even with CMores. Never assume the gun, barrel, mount, optic, etc. are straight, level, or aligned. Speaking from experience here.

I found reasonably flights into GJT, went that route myself.

Bump, match registration is open!

I did and received no response. However, I tried last night and was successful.
We got quite a few support emails, working through them all today. I'm glad you got in though!

The goal of the ICORE rulebook is to keep it simple. If you think it's too complicated propose a clarification. But, for the love of God, don't ADD any rules.

Looking good. Even got logged in. Tried to renew my membership but that was a fail. Oh well, there’s bound to be bugs in a roll out of what looks like a complete overhaul.
Did you send a note to Support? I'm the new Stats person and also have been working on the website.

Reminder that we host ICORE at Oak Hill Gun Club between Lansing and Grand Rapids. Hope to see some of you there!

That's awesome!

I stumbled across this thread and found it interesting. As the new ICORE Stats person I can confirm that ICORE peak times are based upon the best recorded score. They get updated periodically and the peak times are reviewed to verify validity.
As for USPSA, I've shot 120+% scores that I don't feel were even my best effort. That's an obvious flaw. They shouldn't be that far off. I've reported some as being suspiciously low HHF in the past and don't know if they ever adjusted them.
I made GM in USPSA way before I could have done it in ICORE. My best guess is that USPSA is about one classification level easier to achieve based upon classifier scores.
Both sports, the best test is to shoot Nationals and IRC and see how you stack up. That's your best data.

Haven't posted here in a while, finished 3rd at USPSA Nationals this year.

Beats me, that's what Jim Scoutten from Shooting USA tv told me.
Of course that was right after I had contacted ICORE on their Facebook page, and emailed Gorka.
I wrote for Sporting Clays Magazine for a while, so I know a little bit about how this works.

Understood. Several people on the ICORE board know the folks at Shooting USA. I'll bring this up at our monthly meeting to see if Jim has reached out to ICORE.

Anybody know when the IRC will be listed on Practiscore?
I'm trying to get Shooting USA tv show to cover it. They want to know.
What does listing it on Practiscore have to do with coverage? I'm curious. Legitimate question.
Dates have been posted for a while, I would suggest contacting Gorka directly if you want details other than match dates and location.

Very sorry to hear this. Enjoyed shooting with him for several years since moving to Michigan. He will be missed.

I'd use Trail Boss for your low PF needs and Tite Group for the rest. I shot a 625 at Steel Challenge for a year or so, running only 650 fps. Trail Boss burns very clean at low pressure compared to other powders.

FWIW, I busted out my first ever revolver (6" GP100) for some steel practice the other day. I was cruising at a slightly faster pace than I normally run with the 929. It only has 6 rounds but I love shooting Steel with the Ruger. For whatever reason I tend to like the Ruger DAs.

For a Steel Challenge gun, it's nice to have a lighter barrel. For anything else, probably not worth the effort.
