Getting some parts ready for a build this winter and wanted to see the best way of reaming/throating the barrel for an open 9mm Major. I am not sure of what bullet I will be using yet, so not really knowing this information where do you guys start. Do you just get a Manson reamer along with a .356 Manson throater and deepen the throat when you pick your bullet? from what I have read (never shot major so I am newbie) I want to load to about 1.165 or 1.17, I am sure just the standard reamer will not allow for this. Did any of you have specific reamers built and if so do you have the specs that can be sent into Manson?

The fit is tight and does not spring, it took a lot of sanding on the bottom front of the barrel and about an inch back on the top, this being a hybrid barrel I wasn't sure where the contact points would be. I will have to pay close attention next time to if it looks like it is clocking the barrel That's a good point Thx I will look.

Thank you guys I was hoping I had not messed it up I didn't do a very good job cutting the lower lugs as they were not perfectly parallel, I am currently only getting contact on one leg but lock up is still too tight. I'm hoping when that high spot gets removed it contacts both legs

I cut the lower barrel lugs on a schuemann hybrid barrel and I have good lock up but the slide has some rearward movement after lock up, the barrel is still locked up tight but the slide, barrel and all moves on the frame slightly, Did I cut the barrel lugs too far back? It just doesn't make sense because if that was causing the issue the slide moving backwards on the frame is moving away from the back of the lugs.

I shot Clays exclusively in .40 major for about 3 years using both 180gr and 200gr bullets. After about the 10th KABOOM I was over it. At that point It didn't matter how soft shooting or clean burning it was. When it blew up it would ruin a stage run at a minimum or break my gun taking it out of commission all together.
I tried all of the tricks such as loading long to avoid over pressure issues but it would eventually blow up.
All together I probably shot 50,000 rounds with Clays. 10 KABOOM events in 50k may not seem like a lot. But one of those was at the Nationals and I ended up zeroing a stage because of it. That single KABOOM event wasted at least $1500 in travel expenses in attending that match.
After that event I dumped Clays and started using WST instead.
Thank you for your input, this is what I was looking for.

Its funny how most people ignore the warnings about Clays because it "Works". Then it eventually goes KABOOM and the lesson is learned the hard way once again.

Start lower, 3.5gr gave me 171pf. The trouble with Clays it that when you push it over the hump it gets real inconsistent. I've experienced this loading it under 147s in 9mm as well.

If it is real inconsistent then I may not even bother with it and just run Tightgroup or WSF since i have it on hand.

I have heard several times not to run 200's with Clays powder, I have shot a lot of 180's with Clays at 4.4 loaded to 1.19 to get about 171 PF out of my Limited and SS gun, I show no pressure signs and have shot probably 10-12k of them.
Does anyone run 200's with Clays, I just haven't been ballsy enough to try it yet since people on here warn against it, but curious if most of those people just are regurgitating information that someone else told them.
Has anyone tried it and actually seen any pressure signs doing it?

We will probably have a classifier only match at the Bullet Hole on a Friday night in early spring. Bullet hole is in Shawnee KS (Kansas City)

Looking for a slide for my first 2011 build, I have a hybrid 40 barrel and a CK LDC frame and older style PT metal grip
What slide options are your choice and why?
I was looking at the sacred defense slides, does anyone have any experience using them?

With all the bad customer service these days I just thought I would mention the great customer service I have had with these two companies the last couple weeks, I had an issue with my racemaster holster where I stripped the screws out and Saul personally responded to my question of asking where I can get just the part I needed, I didn't need the entire mount just part of it, they did not have it listed for sale and I was fully expecting to buy it and they sent me one free of charge... Stand up company.
Mark VII I had cancelled an order for a 650 autodrive unit and was having issues getting the refund back on my CC because my card in the mean time had been stolen and they put a stop on it, Jay called me personally and transferred the money back to me via other means...
It is great to do business with like minded people.

I ended up going with the daa medium bag, so far I have been very happy with it. Only complaint so far is its not the most comfortable to wear as a backpack, but I typically do not have it on that long anyway.

What would be the point of a safety change if you are shooting for production? Would it be more for the thumb rest and grip comfort? Not being a smart ass I am just curious since I never use the safety on mine.

CHA-Lee, this is great information, however the mods of this forum punish you for doing just that, I use the search function to find all kinds of info on here instead of asking the same questions that have been covered hundreds of times.... Turns out, if you do that and then post to the classifieds the mods shut you down because they say you do not contribute.... How many times can you make replies to the same questions.... lol
