For $8k this is what you get from a gun you can't choose any options on and is marketed as the perfect open gun? And on top of that they made 15 of them. How in the actual s#!t does this happen? That's 1 in 15 that failed. I'm no math teacher but it seems like a terrible failure rate to me. I would assume they fully tested each of these guns before sending out the door.

Actually I'm not even surprised at all. And I could give a pretty good guess at the excuses that will be used to deal with this.

    My thoughts exactly...

I am starting to have some regret as I should have submitted my gunbuilder in April and not waited! They are that good. The one I have currently is the best open gun to date for me in every way.

Did you end up getting one in 9MM major?

I see you jumped ship from the Limcats. Is the difference between them that remarkable? I had to show alot of restraint when you posted your 2 for sale.

Would like to know the difference between the SVI and Limcat as well. I'm on the fence of getting an SVI in 9MM.

Here is a good analogy of your situation...... You can probably run blind folded across a busy highway several times before getting hit. But eventually you will get hit. Its not a matter of "IF" you will get hit, its only a matter of "WHEN" you will get hit. Running an Open Glock is the same scenario.

If you are shooting Minor ammo, then you don't even need a comp on the gun because there isn't enough gas generated to run the comp. A good analogy for this is "Let me put a wheelie bar on the back of my stock Honda Civic to keep it from popping a wheelie". Never mind that its front wheel drive or that it will never have enough Horsepower to make a wheelie bar even come into play.

Excellent analogy, have had a bunch of friends try going the Open glock shooting major PF route to save a couple of pennies. ALL of them eventually regretted it and dumped it for a 2011 because the gun either did not run reliably or eventually beat itself up.

There's a reason no top guys use an open glock shooting major.

Same technique as removing the insert from a Dawson Ice Magwell. Use a flat screwdriver blade and slide it between the magwell and the insert . Push straight down (don’t pry) on the screwdriver and the insert will distort and pop out of the magwell.

I hear ya. I did the same to mine, just to GunKote the Magwell. Pried, WD40 and heated that Insert. Just couldn't get that damn thing out, unless I start screwing with the Magwell and damage that. That Insert is in there, nice tight fit too.

I said screw it, got the Soldering Iron and melted the Insert  all the way through on one side, just enough to pry it out. Saved the Magwell, not a scratch. Got the Magwell Gunkoted and just spent the $20 for a new Insert. If I ever have to change it again, I might stick it in the oven @350 for 30 mins, salt and pepper to taste. Maybe some veggies and garlic bread to go with it.

Thanks for the replies guys! Glad I didn't have to try melting it off! Although I was seriously considering it if I couldn't get it out. After a couple of beers and a lot of swearing. Hooked's method worked!

  5. Hey guys,

Noticed my ejector is rounding out a little after installing the Cheely grip which utilizes their own magazine catch. Also noticed the mag and round sits pretty close to the ejector. Think this will be an issue later down the road?

    thanks!
