Thanks for the idea on Port Malabar. I went to their site but I did not register yet so could not view a lot. I really want to get proficient at understanding tactical situations first. Although I never want to draw my gun, if I do I want to make sure I only hit the bad guy. Once I am comfortable (as much as you can get I guess) I might consider looking into competition. BTW, I had Lasik about 20 years ago and not sure why we chose it (maybe because of the difference in eyesight at the time) but the right eye was set for close and the left was set for long distance. But I am adjusting to the left hand shooting. The only difficult part is my finger is never in the trigger guard until just before I shoot and I have a hard time bending it out away from the gun to get the tip to clear the guard. But that is just going to take time. Thank you everyone for the welcome.

I'm 70 and competing. Matter of fact, I'm a Legend ** If you're up by Titusville - great shooting range up there. ** In my own mind. Actually, I just became a member of the Police Hall of Fame, not sure if that is the range you are talking about. It is a great indoor range. I was shooting with my right hand as I am right-handed but one of the guys there suggested I shoot with my left, which is actually better for me as I use my left eye to sight with.

A little bit about me. I did some hunting as a teen. I then spent 23 years in the USAF and only shot for qualification with the M-16. Most of the last 25 years has been spent in Maryland working in the civilian world. I did not get into any gun action in MD as it was just too much of a hassle. About 10 months ago I started going to a local range and soon bought my first pistol, a CZ 75bd. To me it is an awesome gun, big enough to fit my hand and fun to shoot. Being all steel as a CCW it gets heavy and after carrying it for about 6 months (I think one leg is a bit shorter) I started to look for a lighter gun that had the same comfort. I picked up my XDM compact a couple of weeks ago and with the extended mag it feels almost as good as the CZ. My wife has a S&W 38 and we both enjoy going to the range every week. I shoot between 150 and 225 rounds a week and the wife around 50-100. I was talking to a couple of range officers there and we got to discussing reloading. Since I don't shoot all that much I am wondering if this would be a good route versus continued buying. They both have Dillon presses and suggested that I come here to learn what reloading is all about. I noticed there is a lot of discussion about competition shooting, however, I think I am a bit too old for that. So anyhow I hope everyone has had a wonderful year so far.
