If you can afford Atlas, Akai, SVI, etc...go for it. If you aren't happy with it, they hold their value pretty well as some people will pay nearly new prices to skip the waiting list.

I don't know anything about the EAA guns, but in that range I'd buy a Springfield Range Officer or Loaded.

[Grip Safety in STI Edge]

My 3 STIs chew me up as well.  I just let them chew and have a pretty decent callous built up now.  My hands are not large at all, but it still gets me.  My STI Spartan V was really sharp, so I took some sandpaper and rounded the edge off.  Actually there were a lot of really sharp areas on that gun on/around the grip safety that I smoothed out.

I work less than a mile from Remington's plant and use many of the same suppliers. I have seen Remington frames in the white sitting at finishing shops around town with my own eyes. They are definitely machining frames in house.

I have 2 2011s in 40. I use STI mags for practice and MBX for matches. Just don't want to beat my MBX mags up any more than I have to since I only have 4. My guns both run fine with either.

I hate to see the already small number of options in 40 reduced. That said, when I get around to buying one it will probably be a Sig Max over a Trojan. The series 80 stuff doesn't bother me in the least as long as the gun runs, and I think the Max is a better bargain and more ready-to-go out of the box.

I'd send it back. My DVC Limited 40 has over 2000 rounds through it and the TiN on the barrel still looks basically new.

I haven't seen this asked anywhere else, but do any of the timers with adjustable start beep volumes adjust down really quiet?  I have an old Pocket Pro that is always full-volume, and it drives my wife crazy when I dry fire with it in the house.

I would trust standard STI mags for self defense, but I probably wouldn't use aftermarket race gun guts or MBX mags. Seems like the higher capacity gamer springs wear out faster to me.

It will not be legal for USPSA Single Stack, but if you're putting it together for L10 or just for giggles, go for it.

[Buying a metal grip gunREALLY worth it for limited?]

Metal grip vs polymer grip is pure personal preference.  Some prefer a heavier gun, some prefer lighter.  IMO one is not inherently "better" than the other, so I wouldn't get too wrapped around the axle about it.  Find someone who has a metal gripped gun who will let you try it out.

 

One thing I'd consider before buying a metal gripped gun and using your Edge as a backup is that they will feel and handle a lot different.  I'd want both guns to be close to the same in terms of weight and balance.  Both of my 2011s have Extreme Shooters DVC grips on them.

I have bunion problems that force me to wear a super wide shoe. New Balance 910s in 10.5 4E fit great and get the job done. Before these I was actually wearing the low top Merrell Moabs that I wore for everything else. They're a tad heavy and don't breathe that well in the dead of Alabama summers, but they weren't holding me back in terms of match performance.

Anyone have much feedback on these?  For just over $50 it seems like they might make good range/dry fire mags?
