  1. For range use and plinking it's fine, but then again my old K38 will out shoot it accuracy wise.

For competition it will need some work done. I expected more, never got it.

  2. Sent it back cause it wasn't accurate enough IMO. They said 2" groups @ 25 yds Ransom Rested with factory Win 147 grs ammo was more than acceptable, then it was sent back.

I get it's not a custom gun, I assumed wrong, thinking it should do that @ 50 yds.

  3. I found the .357 158grs. jacketed or plated bullets to be more accurate in my 929. .358 lead bullets would not fall through the cylinder, .357 would.

I could be wrong, but I think S&W just simplied production and used the 627 cylinders and chambered them for 9mm. Makes sense to keep production costs down.

I couldn't get decent accuracy at all with 115grs .355 9mm bullets. 147grs .355 bullets would give me acceptable accuracy. Longer, heavier bullets worked best.

  4. I just mounted the Alchin Mini-STS mount and Vortex Razor on my 929. The Razor was a perfect fit on the mount with the nylon plugs aligning perfectly.

Couldn't be happier. I did have to remove a bit of metal on the front lip of of the base so it would fit flush in the slot.

Shot off hand @ 25 yds with CamPro 158grs .357 bullets and 3.0grs of Titegroup.

  5. With my 9mm TS and 147grs FMJ loaded to minor I used a 6 0'clock hold with just a little space between the bull @ 25 yds to hit center of the black 25 yds NRA Bullseye target.

50 yds I hold dead center.

  6. Shot out usually means the barrel rifling is worn out or pitted badly where accuracy is gone.

Check muzzle crowns too. I've seen many times when a new crown has restored accuracy.

When it comes to barrels, rifle or pistol, the higher pressure loads being used such as magnum or 9mm Major, the faster the throat gets worn out.

Might take 100K rounds in pistols to do so, but the beauty is you can replace the barrel.

Most rifles in serious comps gets replaced between 1 to 5K depending on caliber.

  7. Good info here.

In my CZ Tac Sport 9mm

Most accurate loads are 147grs TMJ RNFP Cam Pro bullets [Canadian] and

147 grs Hornady FMJ RN with 3.3 grs of Titegroup and Dominion [Russian] primers.

  8. My TS in 9mm shoots dead on with 147 grs bullets @ 25 yds with a 6 o'clock hold and stock sights.. A little higher with 124 grs bullets.

I'm going to install a Vortex Razor dot when the CZC dovetail slide racker arrives. Might have to modify the adapter.

  9. Well Instead of Guide rod- I use the SPRINCO RECOIL reducer ( you can feel the difference quite " right away")

I'm getting a TS 9mm in a week and was wondering about those. Isn't that the same as STI's Recoil Master?

  10. Just did a Shadow trigger job recently with standard hammer. I left the sear alone.
Just study the single action pull on the hammer hooks. You'll figure it out.

    Don't change the angles.

Stone as much as you need from the hammer hooks, then polish with a fine stone. I measured mine .025" hook thickness. Removed .010". I might take .002 more, but I'll let it smooth itself at this point.

I don't think all hammers will be the same. Remember though you could be stone stroke away from too far.

If you do it right there will still be a slight positive engagement, then release. Polish all surfaces in D/A mode also.

Take up is still there, but the creep is gone and trigger weight has not changed

  11. czmon,
IPSC/IDPA/Cowboy type comps are the most popular. We are limited to 10 rds for pistol in Canada so open class really doesn't shine.

Tactical rifle and F-Class are also popular and I build a lot of guns in that class. Rifles are my main interest, then pistols, but I usually gravitate to handguns in winter. Too friggin' cold to play outdoors here.

    HP Jack,

    Living the life, eh.
