Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. There's still two versions of the Canadian shadow available here since 2012. The base model with the regular safeties, regular rear sight, basic tuning from factory (tighter slide-frame fit), same Canadian red alloy grips and magazines base pads, also comes with the big case and spare parts & buffers. And there's the Shadowmate that have the same level of tuning as the Orange plus have rear F/O sight and low profile safeties, canadian alloy grips & mag base pads & comes in the same case with spare parts. The Shadowmate that was available in 2012 didn't have the polished barred and probably wasn't tuned to the same level as the Orange but in 2013 it was up to specs & tuned to the same level. The Orange I bought from a dealer in April 2013 was $100 less than the Shadowmate (same dealer) that showed a couple of months later. I'm sure that now the Orange price increase (to my knowledge only one dealer has the Orange right now and they sell for $100 more than the Mate) is just marketing (getting the Orange grips and the label on the warranty booklet). I owned both and they are exactly the same inside & out. Only difference is that the Canadian Shadowmate has the low profile safeties & fibre optic rear sight (witch for me is added value).
  2. Here's a couple of photos of my Shadowmate.
  3. Canada has an upgraded Shadow also. Comp hammer red checkered grip with maple leaf. Hello from Canada! Well I saw lots of Canadian edition shadows in the last couple of years and owned an Orange a year ago, foolishly sold it and wanted another one ever since... Had the chance to buy two Shadowmates in the last few months and can honestly say that the Mates feel tighter and have a slightly better trigger than the Orange I previously had. They have everything the Orange has (tight custom fitting, polished barrel, comp hammer & springs) plus they sports low profile safeties, both rear & front sights have 1mm fibre optic rods and they have medium thickness canadian red aluminum grips (witch I personally prefer) instead of the thinner orange ones. The canadian shadows (in all versions) also comes with three 10 rounds mags but have red alloy base pads that covers the plastic base witch are the same colour has the grips. My Orange came with three plain plastic base plate 10 rounders as all other Shadow versions have. Here's a copy/paste of a post I made on a canadian gun forum a couple of months ago in regard to the different Tiers of Canadians Shadows we have in Canada: "The first Canadian ed. we saw in 2012 (but were manuf. in late 2011) had the plain combat hammer, higher profile rear sight, 1.5mm FO front sight & didn't get the custom treatment from factory (basic fit & tuning by a smith). Both black & silver finish were also available back then. They were selling for around $1050-$1100. The «newer» Canadian edition version came in 2013 (manuf. in 2012) with somewhat of a better slide/frame fit and the new competition hammer. Going for $1200+ in 2013. With this version came the Orange with an even better fit, polished barrel, smoother trigger and orange thin aluminum grips. $1275-$1400+. Now there's two versions available; the newer version as above with an unpolished barrel, regular safeties, beveled rear sight w/o FO inserts, a 1mm FO front sight and a better fit than the plain Shadow & Shadowline pistols. The top of the line gun is called the Shadowmate with the factory polished barrel, an even tighter fit than my Orange had, low profile safeties (a la shadowline), 1mm FO rod in both front & rear sights and medium thickness red maple leaf aluminum grips. Prices for the basic model is $1350 (some dealers were/are selling them for $1600) the silver polycoat version is about $50 more but is the exact same pistol. The shadowmate when available is around $1500 and some dealers sell them for close to $2k (between $1700 & $1800 is the average I've seen at dealers). The shadowmate only comes in black and is a different, better looking finish than the regular Shadow & Shadowline. All Canadian edition Shadows & Orange come in the big Czechmate case with extra springs and other goodies." Newest price for the shadowmate (when available) with our dollar crashing is $1850 as of January 2015. Shadowmates are also pretty scarce, only a few dealers are able to stock a couple in inventory a few times a year so not many of them around.
