@808mattAs a Distinguished Senior that's been away from active USPSA competition for a LONG TIME, I'm now in my second year; and my first year of shooting a Red Dot on this awesome 2011 platform.

As I mentioned in my post above, there were some changes I made to suit MY personal preferences on the LOC and it's running better than when I received it!

I can definitely see improvements in my match results; especially after my changes.  Hope to get at least another 3-4 matches in before the season ends; but I'm having a ball and for me that's most important!

    HTHs!

    :)

That sounds like a ton of fun, hope it continues to treat you well.

  2. Didn’t want to clutter the revolver forum, since these snake guns don’t seem to have a place in action sports.  I bought a 6” new style Python yesterday, pretty disappointed to be honest.  It has to go back to Colt for repairs before I even had a chance to fire it.  The cylinder will lock up every dozen or so trigger pulls, similar to the widely reported problems when they first released.  So it seems for at least some revolvers, Colt hasn’t fixed their QC issues yet in 2023.
The trigger is only OK as well.  9.5-10# double action, and 5.5# single action with a little creep.

I smirked reading this thread... Oh how a little time changes things.  Not even a full year ago people s#!t on the prodigy like it was the worst gun ever.  Now people are arguing it's a better buy than the Stacatto.  I'm glad to hear they got the problems ironed out. I always liked how the guns felt in my hand.

I just think it’s great that there are more affordable 2011/double stack 1911 pattern options now.  I wasn’t in love with how the Prodigy grip felt in my hand, but that’s just me.

  4. Thank you to everyone who has contributed such a wealth of knowledge to this site over so many years.  I’ve been a member since 2015 and this is my first post.  I’m interested in participating in shooting competitions such as USPSA, Steel Challenge, and IDPA, but have only competed in a couple of informal shoots and a steel challenge match.  I haven’t been able to participate in the past due to working weekends and previously living in remote locations, but now that I’m working in LA county and living in Ventura county I’d love to get out there.
