I have the 92X with LTT and the SA is 1.5 lbs, it is awesome.. My elite is 3.2

Which LTT parts are installed in the 92X?

The original sear is chewed up a little. Mainly the gold coating flaking off. Saw specks of it in sear cage.
Cleaned up sear cage when swapping the sear. Exercised the safety a few times also.

Hand cycled the slide 50 times today. Hammer dropped every time.  I THINK the new sear fixed it. But cleaning metal and loose coating out of sear cage may be what fixed the problem.
Hammer looks fine, should be, hammers are harder the sears.

  3.   I hoped the adjustment screw was the issue. But the trigger will reset if hammer is pulled all the way back, a little past where slide cocks it. Loosened up screw anyway.
Assume metal used is defective. Never seen a sear breakdown with such low round count. I am original owner, had it about 12 - 13 years.
Ordered an Extreme Sear from Patriot Defense. Good people. Should last longer than me.
Sear wear was maybe an issue the last 500 rounds.  Noticed trigger felt mushy, break was still a little over 2 pounds. Thought trigger bar was gunked up.
There are flecks of the sear finish in trigger cage. Sear rot?

  4. IMG_0023.thumb.jpeg.d1e5ad028eff37ceaf5b1685069aed41.jpeg  I was shooting some mid power 10mm in my Elite Match last week and the trigger stopped resetting. Hoped it was gummed up.
Figured out it would rest if hammer was pulled to to half cock. Also if hammer is pulled past normal cocking position it resets. But firing or hand cycling the slide does not reset the SA trigger.
Disassembled the frame today. Trigger and hammer look fine. The sear shows a lot of wear. The back of the sear has a lip on it now. On the top side. And a rough edge.
The left front leg of sear is rounded and worn.
Thinking of getting an Extreme Sear from PD. Has to outlast the original. Round count is under 6,000. Almost no dry firing too.

I know they are controversial, but anyone running shock buffers on their guide rods for the Tanfoglio?  I saw Henning's sells a brass shock buffer.

Running 9mm it is not needed, even P+. The Match Elite slide and frame holds up to the battering it receives from 10mm. These are 180Gr @1200ft/sec. Does sling the brass 50’ or so.

Crazy thing is they use the same recoil spring as 9mm.

  6.   I am wound too tight. Normally seeing those “chatter” marks on the frame  would lead to pulling the trigger out to see if they are present. Then make a gizmo to go up in handle to polish this surface.

When I read about polishing roll pins and holes to slick up action the cleaning up of those grooves seems like a no brainer.

Gave the highest round count Tanfoglio to my daughter recently. She loves it. Converted to SA this year. Has to be a unicorn. Black Witness in 22LR with an Extreme SA Trigger and Nill grips.B4961E30-3B0E-42CC-BC27-70F0FCFD8CEC.thumb.jpeg.db99aaf3d8f5bfacda60dab803644e62.jpeg

  7.    The nub that sticks out can be ground off without affecting locking back slide when empty. It is there for the Slide Stop Spring on the inside of the frame. But a spare cannot hurt.

You might try reaching out to EAA. I have been surprised when they had the parts in stock recently. You have to register and then submit a parts request. Then they send an invoice for parts and shipping.

PD and Ben Stoeger show in stock.

I just looked at patriot defense and they don’t have a trimmed slide stop pin. Maybe you’ll need to buy a CZ one to use. If I remember correctly you’ll need to buy a CZ pin for a shadow 1. Shadow 2 don’t fit correctly.

I would not swap for a CZ Slide Stop. Even with low power loads people swap out at 20,000 - 25,000 rounds. Would hate to shear one in a Match. Most heavy shooters carry a spare.

The Tanfo seem to hold up better.

  9.   It was a beauty. The flats were flawless, and the matte on the grip and center of frame looked better than I remember mine looking.

The trigger seemed better than mine ever has been. It appears Tanfoglio had improved the Match Elite since I had purchased mine 10 - 12 years ago. Or this one was a Wed - Thurs gun and mine is a Monday or Friday gun.

Was this recent? I thought EAA cut ties with Tanfo and no more parts were available?

I ordered parts twice, received them too. This year.
Had no luck trying to s e what they have. Had to register, fill out completely with all shipping on registration. Then submit an order, form is one website.
Then wait for a response. They will send an invoice for what they have. Some common parts are limited to quantity of one or two.
Spoke to a nice lady there several times. Think she is on a tight leash. Will not give up much info.

You would think that since they. No longer carry Tanfoglio they would be dumping parts. But will have limits. Had to order twice to get two trigger return springs.

  11.   For the second time in about 12 years I saw a Tanfoglio at a local gun show. Was sitting my table and turned around and there was a 9mm Match Elite sitting on the table behind me.

Looked unfired , beautiful finish. Waited until afternoon doldrums and looked it over.

The gentleman was not familiar with Tanfos. His posted price was 850.00. Told me he would take 700.00.

But I have a 9mm Match Elite with only maybe 3000 rounds of 9mm and maybe 2000 rounds of 10mm run through it. And a set of Nill grips.

He offered it for a Sig RCS I had on my table. And cash.

But it seemed funny. Had correct box but only one mag and no cleaning kit. Felt strange  that a new looking gun was missing parts from the case.

      Decided to keep my RCS.

  12.   Modifying the 9mm barrel may be easier than buying a 38Super. I have ordered from EAA twice recently. They do respond to parts orders. Have not had any luck with checking stock. They are tight lipped in regard to stock on hand.

For some reason the lead time for responding to orders is also long. Both times I have waited a week or so after first order and ordered it again. In a couple days get a notification of duplicate order deleted and then an invoice for parts in stock and the quantity they are limited to per order. Then wait for the shipping of order.

Have heard slides and barrels are out of stock. But with all the options of caliber, barrel type, and length that may be incorrect.

  13.    I have a Match Elite and a Limited Pro in 10mm. Both have worked fine with 1200+ 180 Gr rounds. Maybe 1500 rds in the Match Elite and less in the Limited Pro.

I have never seen a Compact Witness. But if the recoil is not too bad, should be fine. The full size guns sling 10mm brass further than 30’. And it is fast also. Cannot see them, just hear them hitting things.

A friend was shooting a Colt Gold Cup with me this month. The brass was lazily coming out and landing less than 5’ away. I thought about the two 10mm Tanfoglio.

I had a guy come over one day to complain that 10mm brass was hitting his vehicle parked two bays over.

  14.   Every third round sounds like a coincidence. But if this is continual there is something amiss.

Have you measured trigger pull to see where it is and how consistent? Also how many rounds since problem started.

Being a used gun it is hard to say what has been changed.

      My suggestion is;

Return all springs to original. Some are hard to find. EAA seems to have the OEM.
