Also, I would not consider an all steel double stack 1911 to be a particularly good choice for carry... for reasons of concealability and comfort. Too big, too heavy. The exception from SVI would be their Tiki model.

Probably would be the last thing I would be thinking about but I certainly understand that. Sorry to hear about your wait time hopefully it was only a speed bump and they get knocked out for you!

I was thinking that, my thought process was I already shoot 9 and its cheaper I could continue to shoot 9 and when I get to the point where I am actually going to benefit by shooting major I could get a caliber conversion. thanks for the reply

Sold my STI 2011 (due to state legislation) and I am trying to get back into the swing of things. I figured I would go single stack and I have been looking around the internet trying to figure out what changes I need to make to gear etc as I currently own a race holster and so on. In the process of trying to figure out what I want on a pistol and due to the CA roster it seems as though SVI is the best way to go as they have guns on roster and can be converted to multi calibers. So I am thinking an SVI in 9mm, what I am wondering is people who shoot single stack what is a must have on a single stack pistol, I am even debating to conceal carry the gun because why not you only live once. So input as far as gear selection or dos and donts on a pistol build would be appreciated. I know the wait on an SVI is 12+ months so in the meantime Ill be shooting a Colt 1911 .45 I have that already has a magwell and decent sights. Thanks for your time and input!

I really enjoy mine it is my first 2011 and prior to buying it I had only shot 2 other 2011s an edge and a custom open 2011. I did have some hiccups at the last match but we narrowed it down to out of spec reman ammo. Other than that the pistol shoots like a dream.

I've shot a lot of it out of Glocks though during classes and practice had no problems but I can see it having issues in the STI and this may lead me to find another source of ammo. For now because I have quite a bit ill chamber check what ammo I'll be shooting like mentioned above.

It is a brand new gun. I was shooting steel and my previous round hit so I knew there was no squib but I appreciate the knowledge. I guess I over looked ammo, makes sense that the round was not seating entirely. Although after I cleaned then gun it ran fine through the rest of the stages. I'll check the specs on the ammo!

It's was 60-65* I may need new lube. I did not detail strip and clean from my first shoot but I did lube it well. Only about 300 rds through the gun.

Ran my sti marauder last weekend at a steel match. Problems started with light primer strikes in the first stage 3-4 and then the gun completely seized up 3rd stage with a round 90% into the chamber the RSO tried prying the slide open with a flat head and dropped the gun (scratched the slide up) putting the gun into battery I then just fired the round off. I then went to the clearing area dissembled and cleaned it, it ran fine from there.
This is my second time shooting the pistol the week prior I shot USPSA approx 130-150 rds and didn't clean it I just lubed it up. I'm using frog lube and shooting 124gr freedom munitions reman. Is there something I am missing? Or just keep it clean and stay away from frog lube?

Alright should be here friday ordered the LIMCAT in black, DA race master mag pouch, and DA belt. Hope it all works out going to try it out this sat at a steel match!

Thanks for the input I am on the fence about buying the belt right simply because of funds I have a an Ares Gear Ranger belt that I use that is pretty damn stiff you think I could get away with using it in the mean time or just pull the trigger on the whole rig?

I am looking for a new holster it will be my first race holster as I am just getting into USPSA and I am shooting a STI Marauder that I have been shooting from a pancake style CCW holster so I figure I should actually get proper gear and I came across a shooter at the last match running this holster he said he likes it. Just wanted to know if anyone else has any input. So far I am looking at this holster with Double Alpha Race Master pouches and a Double Alpha belt. If you have any input or other ideas let me know thanks!

Looking at DA PDR pro 2 and DA mag pouches? Anyone have experience in using them for single stack? Or are there other options I should look at? Thanks
