  1. My STI 9mm ran factory loads and hps like a champ and the single stack nines I've shot from Wilson were spot on as well so I'd hope an svi would fall in line as well but I understand OAL and the feed issues could be a problem.

Why not .40 S&W, you can load it minor or major depending on the match and still shoot Limited 10 as well if you wish? Also, 5.4" model fits the box as well I believe.

Not sure if you are asking me or him but personally I don't want to pick up another caliber at this time and eventually when I start reloading and it pays off to shoot major I'll make the change at that time and get a conversion kit. Thanks

  3. I've heard some people prefer "commander" size guns in 9mm as supposedly they "run" better. I haven't had issues with either 5" or 4.2" in 9mm. The recoil in my opinion is negligible. Not sure how much 3/4" of barrel would effect power factor. Usually 4.2 guns utilize "commander" frames with a shorter dust cover as they have a shorter stroke.

    1. Magazines accessible to a competitor during a COF must not contain more than 8 rounds (for Major power factor) or 10 rounds (for Minor power factor) at the Start Signal

if I have 10 rd mags for major can I only load 8 and still use them?

A sight tracker is not single stack legal.

-Coned barrels, bull barrels, or barrels with flanges, except in 1911 compact pistols with a barrel length of 4.20 inches or less. (Note: All other barrels must have barrel bushings and conform to factory profile).

Oh well thanks for clarifying that I'll have to speak the guy at svi and let him know. Thanks

Just went through this with anew shooter locally

DAA or CR speed ( Daa SS pouches) or DAA or cR double stack pouches with the inserts

I prefer the double stack pouches with the inserts since the mags a father way from you body so easier to get to but still with in the 2" rule

DAA PDR2 is a great set uo or a CR / Bladeteck holster on a boss style bracket.  Adjusted for your preference and to met the rulebook requirements

Any good two piece belt (DAA, Shooters conection, CR speed, scorpion they all work fine

Thanks for the reply again! Very informative

Pin / deactivate the grip safety.

Techwell SP magwell or at least a Dawson

Trigger of choice at proper length, probably done during the build or the SV adjustable trigger shoes.

    Ambi Safety

    Front cocking serrations

    Good adjustable sight

Might as well go with a 9mm as 98% of matches work better with the 10 rounds than with 8

Couple of big matches major works better but as you said earlier get the breech face changed and new barrel etc

EAA or CR speed pouches with proper inserts.  If you have racer pouches you can get inserts and some more of those.

I suggest at least 5 pouches ( I carry six for when I shoot major)

Go shoot have fun and Enjoy the fact your shooting the classic handgun of America

Happy July 4th, and God bless America!

Thanks for the awesome reply and god bless happy 4th of July!
