Howdy,
I am wondering if someone could help me with a load question in regards to bullet construction. I am loading Power Pistol for a 124gr 9mm. Alliant's data only has 124gr Gold Dot loads. I have two specific bullets I use, Zero and Montana Gold hollow points. Is there a difference between Gold Dots and the others? I seem to recall information about Gold Dots being a form of plated bullet. Is it reasonable to use the Gold Dot load data with the Zero's and the MG"s?

Terlingueno: I am one of those having trouble with CBC brass and that in my factory Glock 9 mm barrels. But I load 147's to 1.130 OAL. What are you bullet weight do you use and what OAL are you loading to?
BTW, per my previous post in this thread, I have loaded one batch of 500 once fired IMT cases twice more without any failures. The load is 3.5 gr CSB-1 (a Universal Clays like flake powder) over Bayou 147's at 1.130 to 1.135. All cases case rolled prior to loadings (figured I'd do what I do to all my brass) and shot through Glock factory barrels. Will report as I continue to reload what I have recovered (~450 cases).
I use both Zero and Montana Gold 125gr bullets. The COAL I use is 1.120 for the Zeros and 1.10 for the MG's

What is your favorite primer tube filling tool ?
- Hand picking using primer tubes from a primer flip tray
This is my choice

I have a bunch of CBC brass and it works fine on the 550 and in my Glock 19
-
I have that one as well.

I installed the bobchute, beveled the decap pin, put a little neomydium magnet on the part of the hopper that moves, and use a safety pin in place of the cotter pin

Well, Dillon sent me some e-clips which is excellent service. I did order some today off Amazon though. Seems kind of silly to put Dillon to the hassle of sending me more in the future, for parts unique to the press it makes sense to ask for them from Dillon.

Not quite 800 miles, but everything is a long way off

Dillon is sending me a couple. I'm going to get a bunch on-line as well to keep a supply.

I'm going to call Dillon tomorrow. I live 100 miles from the closest hardware store and I don't go to town very often at all, so ordering them online is my best option.

Howdy, I have loaded 23,000 rounds on my 550B over the last year and 3 months. All is good except yesterday the little c-clip on top of the sizing die broke. There was a spare in the die box. Does Dillon have a part number that I can use to order some more for spares?

I bought myself the 2016 Dillon calendar

Update: One year ago today, I started loading on my Dillon 550. In the last year, I have loaded 14,800 rounds of 9mm, using 12.68 pounds of Power Pistol. I have had a couple of minor glitches, learning the system and keeping it clean. Best decision I have made buying the Dillon. Thanks again to Brian and all here at the forum.

I did the bevel thing, no primers on the floor. Yay! On December 29th, I will have been loading on this 550B I bought from Brian for a year. Before making a decision on which progressive press, I read this forum and others about reloaders, then tried out an LNL, an RCBS, a 550B, and a Lee. The Dillon ran the smoothest, to me. Glad I made the choice I did. Thanks to all who answered my noob questions this last year.

Dillon die? If so the primers are sticking to the pin and when the spring pops it flings the primer. Either smooth the edges or put a bevel on the pin like I did.
This is a very common problem that has been talked about before
A bevel all around the tip?

Does anyone know what thread is on the failsafe rod? I gotta drive 100 miles one way to the hardware store
Bet you don't have to drive far for practice.
Nope, just a few miles. Have three steel challenge stages set up, and have some arroyos with sneakily hidden steels that we work with. Nice to have a friend with many sections of land.

Pat sent me some New Mexico nuts. Thanks Pat

Don't know which Dillon you are running, but I just measured the rod on my SD. It is .189" diameter, which is a #10 thread, looks course, so I would say a 10-24, maybe 10-32. Either way, order a 100 pack nylon jam nuts for each size from BoltDepot.com for $2 plus shipping. You could also call Dillon and ask. Even a Prius can't go 200 miles round trip for $8 shipping, not to mention the lost time.

You somewhere between El Paso and Midland? I think Texas is as wide (east/west) as California is long (north/south). I just remember there being a lot of nothing between El Paso and San Antonio....
250+ miles southeast of El Paso, 230 miles south of Midland. Alpine has the hardware store, 100 miles north of me

It might be a good idea to take the rod with you!
Thanks for that. My mind is way off in lala land, bad day at work.

Thanks everyone. I was able to get some of the 125gr bullets and worked up a load that I like. After starting at the minimum, I worked up to 6.0gr of Power Pistol at 1.120. The chrono showed an average of 1134 fps, my extreme spread was 29 and my standard deviation was 7.7. Pistol is a Glock 19
I like these bullets

I do.
Like em? Hate em?

Howdy, I am wondering if anyone uses the Zero 125gr hollow point in their loads in 9X19. I have heard some second hand good stuff about them, but would like some first hand experience.

Here is the hot tip for both the SD and 550. Replace the drop tube with a 650, it has a brass tip. I struggled with the plastic ones pitching out every so often, and when the last one pitched out, I was out of spares, and put in the 650 tube a buddy gave me. No issues in more than 5 years, with both loaders. Loading about 1,200 rounds a month.
Interesting...

Thanks! I have done that, I was wondering if anyone treated Gold Dots differently than other jacketed HP's since they are manufactured differently.
