  1. Not in a SF. The guide rod is bigger.

I am running a Wolff in my SF. No issues. The tapered end of the spring needs to be widened slightly to fit over the guide rod. Any set of needle nose can address that issue.

One can also make the Apex trigger work as well provided you mill a bit off the front of the trigger to let it extend properly, then trim the safety dingus to fit. Once I’m home I can provide some photos.
  2. I recall reading some details once upon a moon about this topic but haven’t been able to locate it. Is an X5 with a small full sized 320 grip module carry optics legal? I believe so due to the rule regarding swapping of production legal components between approved guns.

    Thanks in advance.

  3. I had the same issue with the factory captured spring. Going to a 1911 spring with lower poundage (12) finally got my cases to eject properly. With the factory setup the Romeo was getting very beat up.

That being said it seems the 1911 springs don’t have enough tension near barrel lockup and can cause the gun to not fully go into battery. Will be testing longer springs soon to try to alleviate this.

  4. One last thing I saw that hasn’t been mentioned yet is bringing the gun up without overshooting your sight line (fishing). You spent a fair bit of time hunting for the dot/sight picture as a result of overshooting your draw. Brian’s book does a great job speaking to index. Remember it’s not just horizontal but vertical as well. Develop where the gun points and that first shot will be faster.

  5. Tried two pairs, both did not work for me and produced high pitched hum when inserted. I have two others that ran them as well. One gentleman ran his for 9 months every day until they would no longer charge and another is still using his sporadically.

Sad to say I do not think they are a wise buy at this point.

  6. 3.5gr e3 1.180 bayou 180 is 159 PF out of a Brazos 5". Soon as I get my Atlas I'll test that. I'm guessing we'll end up at 3.7gr for a 168-170. Very soft load. Like bit smokey.

  7. How much, if any, fitting was required with the new hammer?

I used the CGW sear to address the issue. With my original sear it wouldn't have taken much at all to get it right. A simple tweak to the safety leg and it would have been perfect.
  8. Just finished mine today. Polish, respring (11.5MS), T3 Disco, 10x bushing, czc hammer, and all the little bits (FP, TRS, etc). DA is lighter than my Shadow1, take-up less, reset maybe 0.5mm more. SA slightly heavier. Overall very happy with the results of my elbow grease.

The stock hammer is pretty darn good and for the cost of the CZC hammer I'd just polish up the stocker and call it a day. Function check and sighing in tomorrow.
