  1. I use my dominant (right) eye regardless of what hand I am shooting with. Accuracy slow fire is pretty much the same. I find most people practice non-dominant hand one-handed and neglect transitioning from a non-dominant hand two-handed grip, working to build the mastery and memory with the assistance of a support hand first. I have been working to improve my own non-dominant hand shooting and found this to be effective for me. I too am open to suggestion though, glad I found this discussion.

    crispin,

You'd probably be surprised if you checked out the Athlon Midas BTR 1-6 offered in 2 different reticles as you mentioned you don't think there are many scopes that would net better performance in that range. This scope does and is relatively close in price to the strike eagle and PST.

Shot my first match with it yesterday and showed several of the guys that run razor's and one guy that runs a swarovske and they were blown away at the glass and scope itself for the $500-600 tag it carries. They were very impressed and several will be looking into it for their back up guns.

I may have to do that-thanks for the info! I'm looking for another scope right now in that price range.

  3. FWIW most of the quality control issues (mainly the 929/986) are related to accuracy, consistency, and timing. I have a 986 that had to go back for a timing issue. Piece to piece there are a lot of variations as well; good choice on the 627.

  4. Have used both; I'd say it's a toss up and would choose based on features. I have laser correct vision (20/13) and was not able to identify a significant difference between the glass on them, in my opinion, not enough to lose out on the 1-6 power and BDC reticle. That's not to say the PST is not an excellent optic in its own right, I was soundly impressed by it when I ran my friends recently, I doubt there are many scopes that cost more that would net better performance in that magnification range.

  5. Last, as a note, is the Sig 20 round german SWAT magazine. Since I already have brought up the TRT Maxwell a bunch of times, I wanted to mention that this magazine will not work with it. The metal flange on the rear prevents it from seating correctly unless you file/machine off part of your magwell. Shown is the flange for reference for those that may not be familiar.

  6. Last is the Apex extension. So-these are marketed as a +3 .40 cal extension, DON'T BE FOOLED. I purchased them on a whim to try them, checked the interior dimensions, mounting dimensions, etc. with my micrometer and they are a 100% fit for 9mm. They will add +5, giving 23 rounds reloadable in my magazines. They are retained with a small allen that fits in the rear of the extension, and will work with the TRT magwell.

  7. Next up is the Taylor Freelance, second from the right. It again serves its purpose, but is definitely the least refined of the three, including a rather unsightly screw retention on the rear. Overall, it works, but is overkill for no purpose. These WILL NOT seat in the TRT magwell. If you look in the picture, it has an excessive amount of material on the front which fully prevents it working with the magwell in place. Pictured for comparison is the Apex extension, Apex on the left, Taylor Freelance on the right.

  8. Starting from the right, with the red TRT baseplate, we have a aluminum +2 that more or less serves as a replacement for the factory plastic +2 found on MecGar/Sig Magazines. It is an anodized finish, mine have held up well enough over the last two years. My batch was milled slightly too deep, so I had to shim it for them to be retained properly. They do work 100% with the TRT Magwell. One nice thing about these is they are very easy to remove, as the use the same retainer as the factory plastic +2 currently available.

  9. Friends,

Wanted to share some of my own findings with you regarding Sig magazine extensions. Right now, the three non-Sig metal extensions that I am aware of are Apex, Taylor Freelance, and TRT, also pictured is the Sig 20 round SWAT German magazine.

All of the magazine extensions have been mounted on MecGar 20 round magazines. These are slightly longer and allow proper fitting, especially if using the TRT Maxwell. The Taylor Freelance for sure will not work on a regular Sig magazine; it will not seat.

The Legion SAO has turned out to be my favorite handgun of all time. And I've shot a lot of pistols the last 30 years.  I grew up on and trained with a 1911 so the SAO feels right at home.

Mine came with a 3.5-3.7lb trigger out of the box. It was great! I'm still impressed with the reset. Since I can't shoot it in Production I've shot it Limited minor and currently shooting Open minor with a MK25 RX top. I've polished up the trigger components and put a 19lb Wolff hammer spring in. It's now Perfect for a competition trigger for my taste.

On a side note I could shoot circles around my Custom SP-01 Shadow with a stock Legion SAO.

And one friend has already purchased a Legion SAO and another has ordered one after shooting mine.

    My two cents

Thanks for the input! I may have to pick one up! I have an SPO1 as well, great guns, but my x5 tactical is more accurate. Was hoping for similar performance with the initial SAO and when that fell through I was a little disheartened, but the new Legion SAO may be the ticket!

  11. I have used both; I'd say it's a toss of. I like the larger field of view on the PRO, but the micro doesn't give up any performance and is lighter. I'd play with both and see which you feel more comfortable with. Also-if you're going to mount it farther from your eye, the PRO may be the way to go, closer, micro. Something I discovered playing with them.

  12. If anyone has an SAO legion I'd love to hear some feedback. I had one of the initial 226 elite SAO's and was not impressed-I sold the gun. It did not have the accuracy or consistency of any of the DA/SA guns, let alone my x5 tactical. I was hoping for decent performance but was very disappointed, I'd like to hear how the legion SAO is holding up as I may have an interest in them again.
