Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Henny, I am not good/fast with measurements and adjusts like you mentioned. I need something more automated, but thanks for the suggestions. Peter, thanks for the feedback on the micrometer. It looks like it is a viable option. Thank you both for your help.
  2. I have been loading .224 Hornady 55gr bullets for a while now, and I have a load that works well in my gun. I would like to get a load going for 69gr or 77gr bullets. I know that my powder charge and COAL will change. I know I could buy a whole separate toolhead and dies, but I figure there must be a more cost effective wa of doing this, that will still allow a quick change-over. Can you help me with a few questions? 1) I have seen micrometer knobs for the Dillon powder measure. I assume I can use this to change the powder amounts quickly. Are there any problems with this solution? 2) I have seen micrometer seating dies. I assume I can use this to change the COAL quickly. Are there any problems with this solution? 3) I already have a crimp die set up that crimps where I need it to, assuming a 1.750 case length. When I switch bullets, I would think the crimp die wouldn't need any adjusting since the case length is the same, irregardless of bullet. Am I correct? Thanks...
  3. Great info. Thanks for your help. I think I am ready for the day I run out of W748 for my AR. Now I just need to figure out a good replacement, and hope the powder gods shine upon me soon. ;-)
  4. Thank you all for your help. Your replies give me a good starting point to start checking things. It sounds like I will have very little powder to throw out at the end... Is there a quick way to check how much powder the measure is throwing without loading up the press with primers and brass and actually making rounds? Sorry for the newbie question....
  5. I am hoping that one of the many folks that has been thought this could give some guidance. Obviously I could measure every 5th charge starting when the powder measure is half full, but if other folks have been through this, they can save me a bunch of time.
  6. Like a lot of us here, I am having problems finding my old powder. I plan to use the rest of my current powder, then start using some new stuff. I have the Dillon 650. As I finish up my current powder, and the powder measure starts getting low on powder, how accurate will the charges be? And, when should I stop using the powder measure (how low is too low)? Thanks...
  7. Wow... I recently bought a used XL650 press, and have had several questions getting it going. I needed a few parts, needed some clarifications on the instructions, and even needed to do a platform re-alignment. The guys at Dillon, were very knowledgable, and soooo helpful. I was amazed at how many questions they could answer without even have to look something up. They took the time to explain things clearly, and when I needed parts, they sent them out quickly. Wow, what incredible customer service... Thanks to the guys at Dillon, I am up and running on multiple calibers, and have gotten pretty comfortable with the press. Dillon has some of the best customer service I have seen from any industry. I will definitely be buying more stuff from them since I know I will be able to getting working on e way or another.
