  1. Yeah, I was super stoked with that price. The guy kept giving me the run around on when he could meet, and I work out of town a lot so I told him I'd pass. Month later I find out someone else bought it and is already trying to sell it. So I swoop in for $280. The 15-rd mag from my Canik55 Shark FC will work in the CZ-75, but it is not flush fitting. The factory mag of the CZ-75 Governement is 13-rds. The 13-rd mags from my fiancee's Pavona will fit in the magwell, and will even cycle a round, but the mag catch does not grab the mag. I could probably take a dremmel and widen the mag catch hole on the mag to make it work, but I'm not sure yet if I'm going to bother. The mag from this CZ-75 DOES work in the Pavona, as well. I would love to have 1-2 more mags for this CZ-75, but I'm not sure yet if I want to buy them or just make the Pavona mags work. I will share some photos once I get around to taking some.
  2. So a month later I buy this pistol for $280. Came with one mag and a generic pistol case, so I think I did great on this. Pistol is very clean, and only bad spots are on the grip. Now to source a couple more mags for it. Hoping the mags from one of my other Pistols fit, such as the lady's Pavona or my Canik Shark FC.
  3. Yeah, less would definitely be better. From the pictures I've seen (along with the first picture posted), the condition overall is decent. Other than holster wear and two dings in one of the grips, it's in good cosmetic shape. Can't speak on the internals as of yet, since I won't get to see it until later this afternoon. It's worth mentioning that it comes with 1 mag, but the guy ordered another mag from EAA (guessing one of the large frame compact 9mm mags), which has to be another $30, which he will give me once he gets it. Also, he's giving me 75 rounds of FMJ 9mm (no idea why, but he said he would throw them in). That's about $20 just for the ammo. So at $50 for that mag and the ammo, I'm really only paying $375 for the pistol, which is a great deal in my opinion. Those who aren't familiar with Tanfo's will definitely say get a CZ instead, but I have been nothing but happy with my 3 Tanfo's so far, with the exception of a TA-22 I once had (was in really rough shape). I'm that guy that likes to have what everyone else doesn't have. My safe does not have any Glocks, XD's, M&P's, etc...and probably never will (unless I get a G17C, just to see what all the fuss is about). In fact, the majority of what I have are CZ-based designs, when it comes to my semi auto pistols, at least.
  4. Picking up the TZ75 tomorrow for $425. As long as she looks good as good inside as the outside. I know one of the grips has 2 little dings, and it has carry wear...other than that it should be in good condition.
  5. The guy with the TZ came down to $450. So now I have my pick of either I want...but I want both! Haha. If I didn't buy that dang Witness Hunter, I'd get both of these. *sigh*
  6. Guy came down to $475 cash, but I can't do more than $450 (got a P-09 with several CGW upgrades staring at me for $450 also). Buy the P-09, or convince the T75 down to $450...decisions, decisions.
  7. I don't see it as a collectible, and if I do get it, I could easily see it being a range gun and possibly a occasional carry gun (when I want something larger than my Kahr CW380 or CM9), but may not be practical for a conceal piece. I think it looks great, and the fact that it's a compact is what makes it appealing to me. The dude is saying his "trade value" is $550, which I think is high. He's looking for a Springfield or Sig 9mm for a trade, but I think the only 9mm I would want to trade is my lady's Witness Pavona (she's been wanting a Canik55 Shark, ever since shooting my Shark FC). I think I would have no problem paying $400 cash, and maybe throwing in a couple boxes of ammo, but I just don't think I could pay any more than that...which sucks because I'd love to have it. And I'd prefer not to trade anyway. Problem, I've bought a Sar K2-45 AND a Witness Hunter 10mm in the past 45 days. Gah...sometimes I hate that I love shooting.
  8. Seems more and more Tanfo's are showing up locally, and I'm always interested. Got a guy with a TZ-75 Governement (yes, not Government). From my research, this is a Series 88 (1988) compact model. They were stamped Series 88 after 1988, but this one is not. Also, I don't think the compact is as common. Am I wrong with my assumptions above? Anyone got any idea what it's worth? Comes with 1 mag. The guy says he has only shot ~3 mags through it, but I'm guessing he's not the original owner. Pic that he shared:
  9. While it would be nice, I found out with my Elite Match that I was able to tame the SAO trigger to a point that I love it (short reset, light break, etc). Although, I love the look of the flat Henning trigger...so I may still get it for my Elite Match (which I hope to use to get into USPSA later this year).
  10. Thanks! I had to decide between the Stock I, Stock II, Limited, and the Hunter...but I've always wanted the Hunter since I became familiar with Tanfo. So excited.
  11. Hi guys. I just ordered a Witness Hunter 10mm, and should probably have it here in a few weeks. I know there is all kinds of information on the internet about this firearm, but I'm not sure if the info is current/correct, and some of what I read is contradicting. So first off, I've read that this firearm comes with 3 factory slide springs. Installed in the gun is a 18.5 lb spring. is this correct? What other springs come with the firearm? How many magazines come with them? What are some mods/replacement parts I should buy right away? I was thinking a Wolff 20 or 22 lb spring, but I'll only ever shoot factory loads (well, for the foreseeable future at least). I'll probably do a trigger job on it like I did my Witness Match 9mm, and probably get an ambi safety. At some point I will probably add fiber sights, and the USPSA base pad (with grams spring/follower kit). Is there anything else I should make sure I replace, either for increased reliability or better shootability? Thanks!
  12. That sure looks like the same thing. So that's the old style Hunter model?
  13. I was watching TV and saw an "EAA Witness, all steel .45ACP". Problem is, I cannot identify which model it is. It has a round trigger guard, like that of the wonder steel models, but also has sight mount holes on the frame, and a compensator on the end. Is this just a custom job? I took a screenshot as best I could. http://i.imgur.com/7cjhb0a.png Whatever it is, I'm digging it. Thoughts?
  14. Darn, I was hoping they weren't a low end gun like that. The guy is asking $180, which I assume is quite over priced, so I'm not going to bother. I don't see many Tanfo's around here, so I got excited when one popped up in one of those Facebook gun groups. Guys there usually way overprice their stuff, anyway. Oh well, thanks guys!
  15. Got a local guy wanting to sell this, but I have no idea what it's worth. I admit I'm interested mainly because it's a Tanfoglio. "ARMI TANFOGLIO GIUSEPPE - GARDONE V.T.-ITALY" It's a .380ACP. Thanks!
  16. Well, I spent several hours on Youtube and reading a few posts around here, and decided to do a little work on my Match myself. I did my first detail strip yesterday: -swapped the mag release to the other side (I'm a lefty) -polished the plunger head and the plunger bar (that the spring rides on) -polished the trigger bar (where it rides on the plunger, as well as a little polishing with no sanding on the side of the trigger bar where it rides inside the frame) -gave one full rotation to the pre-travel screw and sanded it down just a tad to smooth it all out -gave several rotations to the over-travel screw, sanded just a little on the bottom of the reset leg on the sear, as well as the face -gave it a good cleaning, and re-assembleded Overall, I'd say it took me about 2.5 hours. Gave me a great opportunity to become intimate with my Match and really learn how it all works. I haven't live fired it yet, but probably over 100 dry fires since then and not a single problem. The trigger now has very very minimal travel before it breaks, and the reset is also much shorter. It feels great to me, but I won't really know until I get to live fire it. I'll try to make a video sometime of the reset/break point. At this point I want to replace the hammer spring with a 13 lb spring, get hennings XL firing pin, get std ambo safety, and send off the lower to Canyon Creek Customs to have them weld on a magwell. At that point, I think I'll be quite happy with the gun. I've already got Hennings FO sights, Hogue rubber grips (sanded on the inside to ensure mags dropped freely), and 3 9mm mags with Henning's 141 extensions. Oh, and I may polish up the barrel to make it look pretty.
  17. I've done some searching here, and I'm not finding what I need. Here is the video I was thinking of: I know which leg is for the reset, but just not sure what part of it I'm supposed to modify (and how much) to shorten the reset.
  18. I'm wanting to shorten the trigger reset on my Elite Match 9mm, and I remember reading that I can shave down one of the legs on the sear to achieve this, and avoid buying any replacement parts. Does anyone have any information this they can share? I also remember seeing a diagram showing the sear from a Witness, that explained what each leg was for. Anyone know what I'm talking about and can share it with me? ***It could have been a video I seen on YouTube; I don't remember for sure. Thanks!
  19. Yep, 9mm (minor) in Limited Div. I'd like to eventually get a Tanfo Limited in .40 (major) for Limited Div, but I'm fairly new to USPSA and IDPA so my Match in 9mm will be fine for a while. Sounds like you and I have pretty much the exact same plan. As I'm also new to USPSA (only attended matches, never competed), I expect my Match 9mm to keep me busy for a while. As far as a Tanfo Limited, I will probably also be shooting .40, even though I don't care for .40. Not many alternatives to that, unless I want to load 9mm major rounds, or load .38Super. I don't reload, so that's out of the question right now.
  20. That's my plan! You can never have too many guns, right? Too many? That's not possible! Your Match is 9mm, yes? You shoot that in Limited div? What are your plans with a Tanfo Limited (caliber, division, etc)?
  21. You can shoot 9mm minor in USPSA Limited, right? I think I've decided to just keep my Match since it's almost there as a USPSA pistol, and would be great for me to learn USPSA with. From there, I dunno. I see a Tanfo Limited in my future, along with my Match. No problem with having both, eh?
  22. I sure would appreciate it! What do you mean by loose in the standard CR? As in it flops back and forth? Does it hold it securely? Sorry I've been so slow, but I just checked and the Tanfo specific model is perfect for the Match. In the standard one if you push the muzzle platform up enough to get a tight fit it exposes the trigger. There is a different trigger catch which sits lower, but then it's harder to pull out. Tanfoglio model, it works. This is awesome news! Would it be possible for you to post a picture (or even a short video) of the Tanfo specific model with the Match in it? I'd like to see how it looks. ^.^ No longer am I considering having the trigger guard squared off. I am still considering the weld on mag well. Assuming I can use the same 9mm mags in the Tanfo Limited 9mm as my Match 9mm (pretty sure I can), than I will likely continue with this build and later on (once and/or if I get more serious about USPSA) build out a Tanfo Limited, either for USPSA Limited or Open. I would use the Match for 9mm minor PF, and the Limited for 9mm major PF (assuming the gun can handle that), but it will allow me to share the same holster, belt, mag pouches, and mags. Talk about some serious monetary savings right there! Or if the limited can't handle hot 9mm loads, I would go with either .40 or .38, and can still use the same belt rig. In fact, can you use Major 9mm in USPSA Limited? I'm thinking it's only legal in Open.
  23. I found out that Canyon Customs can put a magwell on my Match for about $200. Is it really worth putting that much more into my Match, versus putting that 200 toward a different Tanfo, such as the Limited or Limited Pro? I also see that Canyon can make my trigger guard square, which would open me up to using something like the DAA Race Master, but that's $150. Do most of you consider that a waste of money when compared to the cost of a Tanfo Limited?
  24. Alright...so I've pulled the trigger (pun intended) and did some ordering. I have ordered the necessary stuff so I will have 3 mags with the H-141 pad and Grams Kit. I've got roughly $240 left from my gun sale, and still need a holster, belt, and 2 mag pouches. I've done a lot of looking but can't quite figure out what I want. I like the Sting-Ray holster from Henning (as it seems to be the ONLY left handed option for me), except that it sits on the belt and I fear it may be too high (i'd prefer to have something with a swivel). Any other recommendations (with links, please) that would fit my budget? Should I also pick up Henning's firing pin, guide rod, or slide spring or are those just replacement parts? Other than a little trigger work, a magwell is the only thing left I want, but that will have to wait.
  25. I sure would appreciate it! What do you mean by loose in the standard CR? As in it flops back and forth? Does it hold it securely?
