  1. I wonder if crimed-in 40 primers and hard-seating 45 mags are a regional problem. My tripp and CMC 45 mags seat very easily, and I've yet to ever see a crimped in 40 primer (and i have tens of thousands of 40 cases).

I hadn't seen any either, then after reading this thread I found 3-4 while loading the other day. Reminds me of SPP 45

i do get small primers every now and then. I'm saving them up and I'll load them all at once for a lost brass match in some other city.

That's what I'm doing, I'm going to be loading for SS Nats in the next few weeks. So if your working the match I'm sorry!

  3. Actually I love my wife. Our anniversary is Monday and she surprised me today with my gift. A 140 mag tube and a new cr speed belt!!! I have an awesome wife!!!

  4. I played with a NIB Apeiro at the local gun store this week. The finish looked good, the slide to frame fit was slick. But the trigger and ambi safety felt like a 3rd grader fit them. They were terrible for a 2400 dollar gun..

When my Apeiro came in the trigger was the only thing I didn't like about it. I stripped it down and in 30 min or so had a decent trigger. I'll quantify my definition of decent by saying I've only been competiting for a year.
  5. We had a new shooter a few months ago and we failed to mention the importance of Virginia count. He had 5 extra shots on the first string. Luckily the score keeper was laughing so hard he forgot to write the time down. We all felt bad since we forgot to tell him.

  6. Just food for thought. Even the "right" steel can be made "wrong" in the cutting operation. Hacking them out with a torch and cleaning up the edges can yield poor performance. Care with the steel can be seen in how it attaches to fixtures etc.

I've seen this a lot. I use a water jet to cut mine. No heat at all.
