Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I was watching American Rifleman on cable T.V. 26may05. The show did a product review of the Mitchell's Mauser Gold Series 1911 45 cal pistol. It recieved a great review on the show. I call mitchell's mausers and found out that the price of there pistol is $795 ( you must buy thru the manufacturer). It has a 4# trigger pull, 1 year warrenty, no MIM parts all small parts were cast, stainless steel slide and frame. It appears to be a good pistol at a reasonable price. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this pistol good or bad? I have never seen this pistol discussed on any other fourms or in any magazine articles. I will be posting this question on other fourms. http://www.mitchellsales.com/autopistols/g...0-%20150dpi.pdf
  2. Thank you i just don't want to pick up a lemon.
  3. I am thinking about picking up a S&W 1911. I fondled one at the gun shop, the fit and finish looked good. Trigger was light and smooth. Price was around $650 in stainless. Then dealer showed me the Doug Koening traget 1911 it ran around $850. The trigger was lighter and smoother then the standard S&W1911. But i didn't care for the squared competition speed trigger feel. What is the purpose of the squared speed trigger. Also i see from the posts on this and other gun fourms that the pistol is reliable, but there has been no mention of the accuracy for this pistol. What size groups should i expect at 25 yards on a sand bag rest with factory ammo? The $650-$700 price is about all i can afford right now. And my wife will still kill me when i get it. My eye's are 50 years old and 2' to 2 & 1/2' groups out of this pistol would make me very happy.
  4. I have been giving some thought about picking up a 22 cal semi auto pistol for practicing at the range. I am trying to improve my auto pistol trigger control along with sight alinement. I have been considering three pistol all at under $400. I would like to get at least a 6" barrel on the pistol. The three pistols i am looking at are. Browning - BuckMark Beretta - Neos Sig - Trailsides Your recommendations will help me out alot. Thank You in advance. I will be also posting this question on other boards.
  5. Thanks guy's for the information!!!! I guess i will get some snap caps and practice dry firing. I never was really "into" shooting until a year and 1 1/2 ago. I guess i went thru my middle age crisis. But instead of buying a Harley like most of my cooper buddy's did, I got a hankering for an AK-47, and from there my hankering for gun's and shooting increased. I have an PTR-91 a (HK G-3) clone and it shots 2" groups at 225yards. Also a DSA, FAL that is almost as accurite at 225 yards. Both rifles 308 cal. But now i am looking into pistol target shooting, I will be retiring in 2 years or so and i need something to do so i don't drink my life away at retirement time!! But i am truly finding that by getting my rifleman skills was very very rewarding. And i believe that becoming accurite with the pistol will be just as rewarding, and easier to find a range. Plus i get great free targets off the chgo police range.
  6. I got my SIG P220 45 cal. I have put 450 rounds thru it so far. I am right handed and a CHGO police officer for 27years(i am 50) my eye's are old and my hands are also arthritic.I Shot two handed as i was taught in the police academy long ago. I was never a great shot but could qualify. I am still carring a wheel gun as my service revolver. My question is this, I was shooting 230gr FMJ rounds at 25 yards outdoors. 90% of my 2 handed unsupported shots landed LOW/LEFTon my target. When i suported my SIG P220 on sand bags my POI was the same as my POA. Around 2" groups right where i aimed. I can't blame the pistol but the shooter. What did i do wrong i am sure it must be my grip? I shot weak leg forward legs spread combat style. Please advise my how i can improve my free handed shot placement. I will post this question on afew other boards i subscribe to. Thanks in advance.
