Come on out and shoot the monthly match at Triple C.  It is a friendly atmosphere without the uptight attitudes that I have seen elsewhere.  There are some good guys who show up and most are very willing to share info.   A wide variety of shooters from beginners to top shots can be found, and someone always has the latest and greatest type of gear that you get to see first hand.  I have been an infrequent attendee for the past year, but I am going to get back out there a little more often.

I have shot this match a few times.  My first PRS match a few months ago.

Totally agree with Kuan. Great environment, everyone was helpful and patient.

I shoot allot of 3 gun and other action shooting sports.  So I am pretty understanding of guns and competition.

Really recommend Triple C and this match.

    mine come out just fine.

One of two things. Either a, you are lucky and got one of the ones with a bigger bore. Seems to be hit or miss. Or b, yours hasn’t built up the crud that will come. Mine probably has about 900 rounds through it. Shoots awesome. But there is a bit of crud in the comp. I’ve cleaned it out very well, and the tool will work for a little while, then eventually it unscrews, but the choke just won’t go through.

  3. Be careful w the locktite.  Even with an extended choke wrench, it can be hard to impossible to change chokes with the comps in place.

Can't speak for the shorty, but on the long comp, carbon and wad residue builds up just enough so that the choke pulls off the extended wrench and you can't change chokes without taking comp off.  Needs to be reamed out just a bit more.

  4. On gas operated rifles, shotguns and pistols, the gas to cycle the gun typically comes from the area close to the breach.

So, muzzle treatments, except for suppressors, have little or no effect on the actual cycling of the gun.

They do affect the recoil in various ways, some devices more effective than others, but in general, muzzle and mid barrel comps should not have a big effect on the function of a semi automatic gun.

  5. I put one on a 9mm sti edge to play with.

Works well, will take some time to get used to because of the height of the site. I put a Burris fast fire II on mine. Works ok, haven’t tried it in a match yet.

Shoots and points fine though. Can’t really tell, from a weight or balance perspective that it is there.

    Good luck.

Go to the Freedom website and take a look at the reviews. And use your spell check.

Go choke yourself and quit stalking my posts.

One typo and you loose your mind.

I am sure you never mess anything up with your pompass attitude.

  7. While i see ammo fails fairly often at matches, the one that fails most, outside of personal reloads, if Freedom.

I wouldn't shoot it at a major if they gave it to me.

Too much invested in a match to have it all go to crap over case separation, fail to fire or other freedom silliness.

    You are ridiculous.

"Well, let me ask you. Can you show any proof that they do work?"

Do you have any that they don't work?  All you offer is that you shot a few and could not tell the difference. Yea, that is certainly scientific.  About as scientific as your list.

"And, the part about me wrapping my hand around the comp on your gun and you pulling the trigger is shameful. "

Why do you say that if there isn't any appreciable downward pressure?  Again with silliness.  Somebody gives you a way to determine if there is appreciable downward force generated and you get silly.  Do it on your own gun.  Nobody offered for you to stand in front of it.  Just take your hand and put it over the ports.  If it isn't effective, you would not have a worry in the world.

So done with this post.  The PCC area is for constructive discussion, not  pompous grandstanding on a specific list or saying particular items in people's build list is a waste of time.

  9. "Be aware that nothing is gained by using a compensator on an AR9. There just isn't enough gas left over to make them work, especially if you use a fast powder."

Nothing could be further from the truth.

How about you volunteer to wrap your hand around my MBX comp while I run a few rounds through it?

  10. Might as well get some popcorn and settle in.  We will now hear how this part is better and my part is lighter and your part is uglier.  It will continue for quite awhile.

The thing about PCC's is that there are hundreds of products out there, with varying levels of effectiveness, and thousands of combinations.

That is the fun part.  There is no ONE way to do it. Something that might work for me, may not work well for you at all.

The post should be entertaining anyway :)
