  1. Or just load 10mm to minor power factor. It's a real pussy cat in a heavy 10mm frame. A 180 grain plated bullet moving about 750fps has proven accurate and very mild in recoil. Only reason I can think of to do this, though, is if you only want one gun, but want to carry it in the woods AND shoot competition with it. I shot 3 gun with mine until I could afford a dedicated 9mm upper.

  2. You won't even need different mags. I have shot 40 out of my 10mm with no modifications at all. It was pretty reliable, but I had occasional issues with pierced primers, I assume from it headspacing off the extractor instead of the case mouth, allowing the primer to back out slightly. There is extensive testing showing this to be viable in 10mm Glocks, but it seems less so in the Tanfo. Swap the barrel and recoil spring, and you're good to go for sure.

  3. Thanks, those were my thoughts, and I couldn't think of any good reason to add complexity...
An administrative reload and a tactical reload are the same thing, in my understanding. All it means is that you have fired your weapon, and that you want to "top it off" with a fresh mag to be ready in case a new threat appears. This is only done if the immediate threat appears over, and you usually hang on to the partial mag instead of just stripping it.

  4. I've been dry firing and practicing speed reloads a bunch lately, and was reading some articles on both, and ran across some info suggesting safety on (for single action semi autos) during all reloads.

I have never turned my safety on (Stock 1) during a speed reload, and can't think of a good reason to.

If I'm doing a tactical/adminstrative reload with a round in the chamber, I flick safety on, as I'm only doing that if there is no immediate threat and I'm off target.

But in an emergency/speed reload situation, my gun has either just gone "click" or is locked back empty. My thoughts are on strip mag, draw new, insert, rack, and back on target to reassess threat, then, and only then, safety on, low ready if threat eliminated. With the Stock 1, you can't rack the slide with the safety on and hammer down, as it locks the hammer. Is there any good reason to add mid reload safety manipulation to my reload practice regimen?

  5.
    Yep.
Just put it back so that you fill in that gaping hole in the trigger. Whether it works, or not, is unimportant. You just don't want it to get in the way.

    Ok, thanks guys.

  6. Just ordered for my stock 1, and threw in the extreme da trigger... We'll see how this goes. Anyone know the thread size and pitch for the over travel stop on these? Me current trigger doesn't have one...

  7. I purchased my Stock 1 specifically for woods carry (10mm). I also carry it concealed in the winter as able. 200gr hardcast doing 1250 in the woods, 155gr Gold Dot at 1450 for around town. I've also shot it in a 3 gun match, as it's the only full size pistol I own, and I'm not going to buy a gun for a possible one-time match...

  8. I don't know, about the longest I can keep ammo in my Stock 1 is 10 seconds... Then I empty it quickly.
Oh! You meant length of the ammo? Sorry, couldn't help myself.

Looks like I stored at .375" measured from the rear of the ejector to the foremost point.

Second photo is just to show how/where I'm measuring from. Forgot that I ended up going with a slight cant to the rear for the ejector instead of an undercut. That might be part of why it only goes 8-10' to the side, might be going up quite a bit instead. I rarely shoot this with anything over my head, and if I do it's at an indoor range where the brass hits the lane divider and bounces all over around me...
