  1. Thanks everyone, I have a short term fix to get through to nationals and will keep an eye out for them to come back in stock. A buddy of mine saw this post and has a few thousand and he’s going sell me 3k. Thanks Mike.

  2. I am down to 3k precision deltas 124gr and I will not make it to nationals if I’m practicing. I have been checking their website and they are always out of stock. I was wondering what everyone else is using that may be in stock. I’m running an SVI open gun if that makes a difference and I’m willing to switch to 115’s if they are more readily available

It looks like you are in the Atlanta area so I am going to throw out Jeff Abernathy at Tommy Guns USA. He has built several of my guns and they are rock solid. The last open gun he built me was way below your budget. He will however trick it up as much as you want. He will give you a build sheet with his preferred parts list or you can send him anything you want. The reason he has a preferred parts list is some folks want it pushed to the edge and the parts on his list are all top quality and guaranteed to work. The pic is a dedicated 3-gun 9mm shorty he did last year.

I will second the Jeff Abernathy recommendation. I’ve never had him build a whole gun but he’s worked on several for me and the improvements were awesome.

Other than that, I have to say that I am an SVI FANBOY. I’ve shot quite a few other makers guns and while they were all very good guns, they just don’t compare to the SVI, at least for me.

  4. The only thing I require, as a shooter, at a major match is a higher level of stage design and higher level of competitors. Everything else is just gravy.

As an RO at a major match I want the higher level of stage design and it has to be worth my time to RO. I’m taking off 4 days of work that I could spend with my grandchildren so I really don’t want the trip to cost me the time AND $1000 to boot for food and lodging.

As a shooter, I will forego the gravy so that the match is properly staffed

  5. I do wear the jerseys but got most of them because I ro’d a major match. I also like the material. They seem to wick water away pretty well and keep me cooler on hot days. Plus I like looking sporty. I’m seriously thinking about selling my SVI just so I can get another one with more bling. My motto is “ Even if I can’t shoot good, I’m going to at least look good”.

Just read this to get hs6 info to try loads for a Tanfo V12. On one of your issues, I don’t think anyone mentioned set back, which can dramatically affect your results. Shoot a few, eject one.  Repeat a few times and measure for oal changes. I’m interested in your current results.

There are no set back issues with the rounds. I think that the reason I can’t comfortably make major with HS6 is the length of the barrel combined  with the large popple holes in the barrel. It is taking a lot of gas to generate enough pressure to accelerate the round and operate the popples  and comp correctly. I am currently loading 10.1gr AA7 to make a 170pf. I had to bump it up after switching to a new jug of powder. The gun is stupid flat at 170.

  7. I just took mine off this week and shot the best match I’ve had since I originally installed it. I also shot the best classifier I’ve had since installing it.

I took off from work a little early on Tuesday and went to the range for some actual live fire practice. My goal was to work on grip to see if I could find the correct grip for the gun that I’m shooting. I was judging based on where the sights came back to after firing a shot. I noticed that the dot would move up and to the right and then settle back to my point of aim. The dot movement was very erratic or should I say “squiggly “ in its movement up and right. I then moved to double taps, seeing the sights once and squeezing the trigger twice. Groups were still horrible and were consistently center of A zone and 2nd shot would be to the right. I decided to remove all pressure from the thumb rest and track the sights. With the thumb not even touching the rest the sight track was straight up and down and not erratic. My hypothesis is that since I was only firing one shot at first, I was forcing the gun to return to original poa. I still need some work on my grip but the sight seems to track back to poa with little to no effort now. Apparently I was torquing the gun with my left hand. I’m leaving it off.

  8. I’m glad I got the “original” quality before production increased! 😛 I might be persuaded to let it go for $20k. Nah, just kidding, I love my SV and I doubt quality will suffer in the least.
