Advantage Arms and TacSol have sold the threaded barrels as "extras" since they started.  No big deal. I'm curious if the frame and internals are straight G19.

If so, buy the .22 at ~$100 less than the G19 MSRP, and spend another ~$225 for 9mm slide & barrel, and you have 2 pistols, still less than starting with a G19 base and adding a conversion upper.

The video I watched from TFB said straight swapping a G19 slide is a no go due to a different locking block. Now, whether we can just install a G19 locking block and then rock and roll is yet to be seen.

  2. I really don't get why do many people are disappointed about this. The basic technology for all the guns we use today hasn't changed all that much in the last 100+ years. Were you all expecting glock to be the first to introduce energy weapons or something?

If the Glock 44 is as reliable as they say, then it sounds like a good time to me.

Having to buy the threaded barrel is BS though.

    Really? Damn, that's a shame.

How have you found it's brightness and visibility?

The window is a kinda small compared to the DPP but a little practice and I have no issue bringing the dot up. It sits pretty close to the slide, which helps too.

Glassis clear, very slight tint. The brightness is great, even in direct summer sunlight I only have to go up one setting from the default (7). Inside I keep it on 6 or 7.

I'm wondering a similar question to the OP and was hoping someone had experience with the Aimpoint Acro?

It appeals to me bc it seems like it can be mounted on a 43/43x/48 and that's what I'd like to put it on.

The DPP and RMR, I've been told, are too wide at the base to get on those slides.

I have an ACRO and it's been very good so far. However, I think it'd be too wide for a 43 width side. The ACRO is 30mm wide which would be about 1.5mm wider on either side of the frame and 4mm overhang on each side of the side

  5. I have one on the way and my slide is at KE Arms right now getting milled for it.

For a purely USPSA carry optics application a DPP is probably better, but I'm going to use this gun/optic for general defensive duty and competition so I wanted Aimpoint level bombproofness.

I won't have any backup irons on this gun, I want the optic to totally replace the sighting system and force me to learn to use a dot effectively for all applications.

  6. I shot my G45 in production last weekend. It's bone stock and performed well. I can make good hits and the Gen 5 stock trigger really isn't bad at all.

I currently have an Aimpoint ACRO on preorder to go on this gun for CO and general defensive duty. We'll see how that combo works out.

  7. Found a good deal on the G45 so I figured I give it a shot. Curious to experiment with the hybrid design in CO since there's no sight radius handicap to worry about.

I do also like how the 34 shoots too, so we'll see.

  8. I just ordered my first set of TTI +6 basepads so I guess I'll find out if I have this problem or not soon enough.

I wonder if there are any difference between the magazine generations that could cause issues? Like does one generation of follower allow for more or less compression than another?

    G43X

If they really come out with a .22 I hope they work their Glock magazine magic and come up with something reliable to feed rimfire.

    pskys2, Glock 45 is a 9 mm pistol.

When I decided to go this route, Glock 45 wasn't available, but I bought Glock 19x almost as soon as it was released, and set it up for optic almost immediately. I now have two different slides for it, both optic enabled in different ways. G45 is even better option due to already cut front serrations and its gigantic magwell, but otherwise they are identical, sans the color. I am about 50 rounds shy of 5000, plus a bunch of dry fire since summertime. However, due to work and life schedule, and repeated failure of the optic that I have on this gun, I only shot one match. FWIW, after two months of dry fire I shot a CO classifier with it at exact percentage that my current Production percentage is. Except my Production guns are Stock and Shadow 2s and it took a couple of years.  There is a tungsten rod for it, Glockstore sells it, I think, and I fitted in a brass plug. Add brass Taylor Freelance mag extensions, and mine is 33 or 34 oz, I believe. I love how it shoots and how fast it comes back, and Gen5 triggers are superior to previous generations for my personal tastes. The only theoretic advantage that I can see with longer barrels is higher velocity and hence more margin for power factor. I myself just shoot hotter loads.  A friend, who is a member here, has done quite a bit of shooting with his G45, and competed some. He feels that it is superior for faster stages within 15 yards but he somehow still likes G34 for precision oriented stages even if both are set for CO.

I dunno if I will stay with Glock as my CO platform but if I did. I'd get a Gl45 to go with my G19x and have it milled.

Thanks for posting that write up. There are definitely some things going for the G45 platform in my opinion. Is the slide literally a G19 slide? Or are there differences?

Also, out of curiosity, which optic did you have issues with?

  10. I had a similar thoughts too. Do you think lightning cuts would make that big a difference? The material removed for the optic cut would somewhat make up for the weight of the optic.

I like the full frame vs a 19, the gen5 grip (no finger grooves), and even front slide serrations.

I've seen tungsten guide rods for gen5 G19's but I don't really know if the G45 slide is exactly the same as a 19...

The hogue I have used before flexed way too much for me. I would look for something a little more rigid.

Agreed. I started with a hogue and it has way too much flex. Magpul or one of the other Boyd's stocks that doesn't have a pistol grip would be my vote if you have restrictions.

Yellow JP springs, polish the contact points and cut the tail off the hammer.

Or you can go the easier and much better trigger job route and get a Timney drop in.

Drop in is my vote. More $$ but huge difference.

  13. I'm with the "get what you pay for" mentality for the 9mm 1911 offerings. I tried the affordable route with an RIA once and it wasn't my cup of tea. I'm sure they can be good, but the quality control and fitting isn't 100%. I just didn't feel like putting in the effort to troubleshoot and tweak it.

  14. Before I started shooting matches my first handgun was a CZ75B and I loved it. Sold it for a Glock to start competing due to the shear simplicity and availability of parts.

Compared to other guns shooting Glock is second nature now, but I'm feeling the urge to get back into CZ because they feel and look so good. Glock will remain a staple platform for me though.
