  1. I shot this afternoon. The gun will always strip the first round when the mag is full. I will have to see if pointing the gun up has any effect. Gonna try to shoot a match Saturday. Ill try not to smack the mag during reload.
  2. The only problem is the slide falls sometimes when I just firmly seat it. I believe you guys are right in the problem being the malfuntion only occurs when the magazine has 10 rounds in it. I will go to the range and do some testing. Thanks for all the help
  3. This problem happended during an IDPA match so there were only 10 rounds in the magazine. I only had a 1 or 2 rounds in the mag when I was trying do duplicate the malfunction between stages.
  4. The gun loads fine if place the magazine in normaly. But sometimes during the match and load just a little hard it will fall anyway. Thanks for the advice I will try it and contact Mr. Burwell.
  5. I have also tried to reload without having the slide fall automaticlly and it sometimes falls anyway
  6. I just purchased a V-Tac 9mm M&P. I love how the gun shoots. But during an IDPA match last night I had a problem during the reload at slide lock. I know that if you put the magazine in firmly the slide will fall forward. When I seated the magazine the slide would fall forward but not strip the first round out of the fresh magazine. This happend during the reload in all 4 stages I shot. Between stages I went to the range next door and tried to duplicate the malfuntion. It would strip the first catridge. When I would shoot the next stage it would malfunction again. Anyone know why the slide would fall and not strip a new round?
  7. I took my Fathers 390 out and it would not cycle. It would fire and the next shell would only get half way into the chamber. It felt sticky inside of the reciver so I cleaned it and the rest of the gun. Now for the new problem. While hand cycling the bolt it will eject the shell in the chamber but the carrier will not even pick up the next shell from the tube. It just stays in the tube. What have I done to cause this and how do I fix it?
  8. The front sight does track up and down and return to the notch in the rear sight. It seems when I try to go any faster the shot drops just below or an inch under the -0 zone.
  9. I have been shooting for some time now, but still can't get my split times down. I shoot a local IDPA match and do very well with my 1911. I'm very accurate. At 10 yards thou my split times in an IDPA -0 zone is anywhere from a .43 to .50 and they don't get much better at 7yds. I know that split times are not that important, but want to improve on them so I can compete at higher level events. Are there any drills that would be good to speed up my split times beside Bill Drills? Any help and advice would be great.
  10. Thanks guys I'm working on grip strength and relaxing. It has helped me to try and think about the grip with both hands being one grip only.
  11. I use the stance described in Brian's. I just start gripping too hard as I prep the trigger.
  12. I'm trying to do that. Alot harder to do than I thought.
  13. I have developed the bad habit of crushing the grip of my 1911 when I draw. Everything is fine until I start prepping the trigger. Then I have trigger freeze. I can't get the hammer to fall. I only have a 2 1/4 lb. trigger so thats not the problem. When I wait to get to full extension the problem does not seem to be as bad. Any suggestions or tips to break this habit would be appreciated.
  14. Thanks for the reply. I'm going to try it this week.
  15. I was wondering if lubing the barrel bushing and end of the barrel with Tetra gun grease would be okay or is oil better for this application? I'm planning on purchasing Brian's Slide-Glide for my frame rails, bushing, and barrel, but wanted to use what I already have first to see how I like it. What's your opinion?
  16. Does anyone know who makes a replacement fully adjustable rear sight for a Kimber Custom Target? Mine broke and Kimber is out of them. I was wondering if anybody else makes one that fits the Kimber sight cut.
  17. I shot this weekend and I'm doing a little better. I believe you guys are right I'm heeling the gun. usually on my second shot in controled pairs. Will work hard at dry fire and maintaining a firm but not crush grip this week. Then I'll see how it goes next Saturday.
  18. Thanks for the help. I shot yesterday afternoon and really paid attention to where my sights were and pulling the trigger. I still missed a few high and to the right, but did much better. Slower but better. I will just keep following your advice. Thanks again.
  19. The last few weeks I have developed a habit of shooting high and to the right during controled pairs. Up to then I had really started to improve. I have become much faster. Now even when I take my time I am starting to shoot high and slightly to the right on the A zone of an Idpa target. Anybody know why and how to correct?
  20. I am thinking about buying A five inch 9mm xd since it would be cheaper to shoot. Has anyone had any trouble with getting lead bullets to cycle and feed?
  21. I shoot a 1911 with a 3 1/2 - 4 pound trigger.
  22. I am trying to develop more trigger speed. I dry fire at least 20 minutes everyday. While dryfiring I notice when I get my sights settled down it takes me a long time to make the hammer fall. When I take my time I have no problem with the gun moving, but when I try to increase speed the gun moves. Is a little movement Ok at 10 yards or should there be no movement. Any suggestions for improvment would be welcome.
  23. I'm looking for a good tactical shotgun to use in 3 gun matches. Would the M2 Tactical Benelli be a good choice? What is the difference in it and a M1 Tactical Benelli?
  24. with alot of dry fire and just slowing down I am now easily making time. thanks for all the help
