Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I have installed a McCormick two stage trigger on my AR. At first it failed to reset about half a dozen times. I put about 45 rounds through it discovering this and then I dry-fired it until it started resetting and haven't had a problem since. However the rifle double-feeds about every one and a half magazines. It was also having problems shoving the first round home into the chamber from slide-lock. I was wishing it was my mags. Checked the gas block, the buffer assembly and gas tube. Then I noticed the hammer on this aftermarket trigger is noticably harder to depress than a stock trigger group. This is backed up by the fact that the weapon didn't start having this malfunction until I dropped in the new trigger. Is it possible that the trigger is the culprit and is there a break-in period or is this trigger just not compatible? Tommorrow I'll slap the upper on a different lower with a stock trigger and try to isolate the problem. Is anybody familiar with this issue? (and yes I cleaned and lubricated the weapon)
  2. Hey, my bad on the multiple posts. Never done the forum thing before. Do you all take your finger off the trigger when shooting the El Prez? Multiple target indexing from target to target? Is there an accepted optimum weight for this buisness, is there an unresponsible weight? I'm sure somewhere on the spectrum there is. At what poundage will an m4 start to runaway? Lets start at 1lb. not a problem?
  3. The school of thought for AR triggers where I work is two stage 3.5 to 4.5 lb triggers for reasonable accuracy at distance and safety considerations for close range target indexing in a room with others(read: accidental discharge). What is an acceptable pull weight for close range target indexing? Is 3 lbs too low and do McCormick drop-in units fall into the "too low" category? Speaking of which, does anybody know the pull weight of McCormick Drop-in two stage AR triggers?
  4. Is there a trigger pull weight too low for tactical close range target indexing and what is it? Does the McCormick two stage drop-in fall into this category?
  5. I would like to order the McCormick two stage drop-in, but i'm concerned with the trigger pull being too light for close range target indexing( read; accidental discharges). I've read several posts saying the pull weight goes in at anywhere from 3 to 3.5 lbs. The train of thought where i work is that anything below 3.5 is dangerous for close quarters and a two stage is neccessary for safeowever I'm aware there are ing, h owever I'm aware there are ing, h ty reasons as well. I'm not really concerned with rules or regulations in match shooting however I'm aware there are rules in place regarding acceptable standards and these are probably indicative of saftey concerns. Any thoughts?
