Hi all,
I just searched Swenson Shielded Safety on Google and got to Brians Forums. I wish I had done this years ago! I shoot NRA Action down under and have just moved from my S&W 686 to an STI 2011 frame beastie which is sensational. I do however get a little excited now and then and touch the slide with my thumb causing the gun to fail to cycle. The shielded safety seemed the answer until it arrived from Brownells and I sent it to my gunsmith who sent it back saying there wasnt enough 'meat' on it to allow fitting to the gun!
I'm wondering whether I've bought the wrong part (1911 vs 2011 frame).
Having seen a couple of the magic discussions had by you guys over all sorts of different topics, I figured the best way to attack this problem is to talk with those who obviously know.
