  1. I haven't shot Bayou, but I have shot a lot of Precision 147s (another lead bullet with a super tough coating) without any fouling problems. As for accuracy, we did better with coated lead bullets than we did with jacketed. I have no idea why.

  2. I recently shot my first IDPA match and the next month blasted through the classifier. I shot a 120 (SSP), which makes me a sharpshooter, though I'm close enough to Expert that I now have regret around a couple of errant shots.

If you want to really muck it up, don't ever practice at 20 yards.

I will say this -- the Classifier is interesting from a comparison standpoint, but it's something of a grind to shoot, especially on a hot day.

  3. I never get the 'love' for LW beyond cheap conversion barrels...more issues reported with them than any other drop-in, just to save a few $?

I bought one because uncoated lead bullets were all I could to reload for quite some time. It's been deeply unreliable due to the tightness of the chamber and now that coated lead bullets are available again, I've gone back to shooting the stock Glock barrel.

Spending another $30 to make it "usable" -- especially when so many others are experiencing the same issues -- feels like a ripoff. And yes, I wish I'd bought KKM.

  4. I have a Comp-Tac International on my velcro Double Alpha belt, but wanted to start shooting the odd IDPA match. After trying to make sense of all the expensive options, I simply bought the Uncle Mike's tac belt and their open-type Kydex paddle holster (comes with belt loop too). Paid in the neighborhood of $19 for the holster, and hell, it works fine.

I don't drop or offset my holsters very much, so the position on the Uncle Mike's is in line with my Comp-Tac. My G34 rattles a little in the holster, but it's not in danger of falling out -- and it's not as if you do a lot of running with the gun in the holster in IDPA.

Let's call it the cheap option.

  5. I'm running an ISMI #13 spring on my G34, shooting mostly 147 gr reloads at 900 fps or so. Tried the #11 and it didn't seem like an improvement with the match ammo -- and it was a big step backwards shooting factory ammo.

Thinking of buying a #16 and trying it, but haven't tried yet.
