Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I need a little help and I hope this is the proper forum for my question. On a 1911, S&W is offering their PD model w/Crimson Trace Lasegrip. Are lasers more a gimic or do they have a place in CCW/Defensive Tactics? Also, one dealer says they don't carry the S&W 1911s because as he put it, "they constantly fall apart." The other dealer thinks they are about as good as slice bread. Back to the lasers. What is your opinion/use of them. (PS - a factory 1911 Smith is only $130 more than the 1911 Sc I was looking at. Thanks
  2. I recently shot a used Freedom Arms, .454 Casull at the range, to test it before buying it. I put Corbon's 265 grain bonded core bullets through it. 10 rounds no problems. I then shot 5 more rounds, but left the 'empties' in the cylinder. The next day, I went to remove the empty/fired cases, but couldn't remove them with the ejector rod. I had to remove the cylinder, take a dowel, and beat them out... I didn't have this problem at the range.... I thought it was OK, any ideas?
  3. Tri Burst In reference to where people learn to shoot without their thumb on top of the safety. Back in the 50s, when I was an early teen, my uncle took me to an indoor range to shoot his military govt. model, Colt .45 ACP, he had just gotten through the NRA for $15. He shot alot of slow fire revolver and I can still see his thumb sticking out away from the gun. He also taught my cousin to shoot that way.... That was the 'kick start' for my never ending pleasure in firearms. 50 years later, I'm going full circle and back to the .45, I long ago abandoned. That support hand index finger placement might be tuff to over come. Thanks for the info. men.
  4. This has probably been discussed already, but after a long time with the revolver and a Beretta 92, I recently switched to a 1911. I was wondering what the proper technique/thumb placement would be. Also, shooting the revolver, I had a habit of putting my weak hand/support hand's index finger in front of the trigger guard. Someone told me this is improper for the 1911. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
