here are my results from today with 800X. i loaded three different powder weights, each wt. had five different oals, each oal had five rds. for a total of 60 rds. i was shooting a xdm 9mm 4.5. with 124 fmjrn.
1st batch- 5.5gr.1.150oal, H1088,L1070,AV.VEL.1077,E.S.18.01,S.D.6.78,P.F.133. i liked this the best
1.140oal,H1139,L1040,AV.VEL.1087,E.S.98.41,S.D.35.25,P.F.134. this load all over the paper.
1.135/1.125oal.H's L's about the same. AV.VEL. within 50fps of each other. 1.135's P.F.136, 1.125's P.F.138.
2nd batch-5.2gr. 1.150 plain lousy.
1.140oal/1.1350oal,both ok loads. numbers were within 15 of each other all the way through. P.F. was 1 apart.128/127.
1.125oal,H.1091,L.1024,AV.VEL.1066,E.S.66.23,S.D.26.40,P.F.132. this load didn't have the best numbers but was the most accurate.
3rd.batch- 5.0gr. same oals. numbers wouldn't make power factor. all AV.VEL. were under 1000 fps.barely worked the slide.
so there's my 1st outing with 800X. hope this info helps.

i'm shooting a xdm 4.5 9mm. the 800x just came today. it will be a few days before i get any loads ready to test. this should be interesting. i'll let you know the results.

thanks, i had already found that one. it's a starting point. i've gotten soome info about it being a pain to work with. it's to late now. i've got to feel it out and make it work. btk

i've seen imr 800x mentioned a few times here. i just got a coulpe of 1#ers. does anyone have good solid load data for it? i just found 1 on imr. i shoot a xdm 4.5 with 124 fmjrn from frontier. wanting to reach minor 130-135pf. thx. btk
-
i just ordered a couple of 1#ers of 800x. i found the same load data. i hope we get some more. at least its a starting point.
-
i use 124 rn from frontier. i shot a xdm 4.5 in 9mm. i load 124cmj over 4.3 hp38. oal at 1.140. it makes 135-137 pf easy. my xdm likes this load just fine.

here's an update on my original question and masking tape solution. i never was completely satisfied with that temporary solution. i changed powder weight from 4.0 to 4.1 for some test loads. it started acting up again. it gave me a hard time again throwing heavy.
the wife says i never throw anything away and she's right. well,i got thinking and came up with a piece of black foam. the lee pro auto disk you turn counter clockwise to to open. so i opened it all the way. then turned it clockwise until the disk cavity was putting out what i wanted. then inserted the foam between the round red powder container and the black plastic mount to hold it in place.
the wife also says i think things to death. that may be but eventually i come up with a solution. well, that's my homemade fix-it to my heavy charge problem. nothing scientific but it works. br.
-
according to the weather lady it was a slow, low pressure system causing the rain. i don't know how that would effect the powder being thrown.
-
well it kept throwing .2gr heavy. so i took the disk and put a very small strip of masking tape on the side of the cavity to take up some space. it worked. now it's throwing 4.0 everytime. if it acts up again i'll figure something else out. thx guys.
-
i had to look up hygroscopic, so i guess that shoots down my theory. i'll throw somw charges here in a minute and see if i have the same problem today. thx.
-
hi guys, thanks for the input. i've gotten in the habit of emptying the pro auto disk after each session. so the powder was right from the jug. your right it takes 10 rds. or so for it to throw a consistent charge. but it never got consistent at all the other day. i'm baffled. i'll wait for the storms to pass and let things get back to normal.then give it a shot and see what happens. thx.

i live in mesa,az. like they say it's a dry heat. humidity rarely in the double digits.
i've been loading the same powder charge for the last 6 mo. a storm front has brought rain in for the last 2 days and will stick around another day or two. could the high humidity increase the weight of the powder being thrown? i have been throwing 4.0gr bullseye with a lee pro auto disk like i said for the last 6 mo. today i tried and tried and it kept throwing 4.2gr. i haven't touched a thing. could the humidity be the culprit? any thoughts are welcome.

went to the range today and put 10 strings of 10 over the chrono. i used the method i mentioned in the previous post. it worked great. a little time consuming but i got all my stats recorded then brought them home and put then onto spreadsheets.
-
after i posted my question i had a thought so i went out and tried it. IT WORKED!
i shot my 1st 10, recorded the data. then shot my 2nd 10, then i deleted the 1st 10 and it displayed the adjusted data for the remaining 10.
to make sure it wasn't a flook i shot a 3rd 10 and deleted the 2nd 10 and it showed the adjusted data for that remaining 10. sorry to not have thought it out before i posted the question.
-
got a f1. don't start ragging on me about what i should have bought. i made my own remote button. works fine.
i can shot a string of 10 and get all the data for that string. i just can't start a new string of 10 with it's own data. i've followed the instructions for starting a new string. then shot another 10 and it shows the data for a string of 20. i've even deleted the 1st 10 shots, because it says it will adjust the data, but it just records the next 10 shots and no data comes up for the new 10.
i won't have the ro's call a cease fire just so i can go turn it off then back on for each string.
any ideas? and don't tell me i should have gotten an ce. thx.

i went to sportsman's warehouse today and they didn't have anything. i went to a local gunshop here and they did have some berry's bullets in 9mm and .45. nothing else. i called my normal supplier and he said bullets and wsp's should be in within the week.

i've been using a lee 4-hole turret press for over a year now. i did have to order some of those little square plastic ratchet indexes. a trip to ace hardware for a couple of nuts and bolts. thats been about the extent of my problems with it. i load 9mm for shooting steel. i knock out a couple hundred a week. i'm not into quanity. i visually inspect each round 4 times before i drop it in the to go box. i'm waiting on a pro auto-disk powder measure for it. it's a good basic press if you don't need a progressive.
-
i use a lee turret. i inspect each round for a high primer before any powder is added.
-
i forgot the .380 probably 300rds.
-
this is my 1st year shooting steel. as best i can figure it's over 9k 9mm.

just joined and wanted to sa hi. hope to take my shooting up a notch. so i'll be taking in all the advise i can absorb.
