I recently acquired a 1981 Winchester Model 1894 John Wayne memorial rifle. I got a pretty good deal on the gun because the previous owner was obviously a pretty heavy smoker as evidenced by the heavy smoke residue on the gun. I have a couple of questions: 1 - what is the best way to clean the smoke residue on the stock and receiver? 2 - what is the best material for treating the stock for the long term. I did have an old .300 win mag that the previous owner treated with linseed oil. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
