  1. I have a 625JM and I use California Competition “Shoot the Moon” moonclip holders. I have two in front of my Bladetech holster. I use a leather gun belt. The best thing you can do chamfer the charge holes. I had TK Custom do mine.

I did put a fiber optic front sight on not and a new rear blade. Also used a Jerry Miculek spring kit and since I have large hands I have X-frame Hogue rubber grips.

  3. I might consider the G45 MOS. I have a Gen 5 34 MOS and a Gen 5 19 MOS and shot both at an indoor GSSF match this winter and shot the 19 better. And the 34 had a red dot and the 19 had “iron” sights. The 19 actually had the adjustable rear from the 34. I’m really intrigued by the 45 MOS.

  4. I totally agree with Ken6, shoot what you have first. At the two local IDPA clubs I shoot, some of the guys shoot their EDC guns. They have to unload when they first arrive and then they load back up when the match is complete. I’ve shot revolver, SSP, CO, CCP so far and will shoot BUG in an upcoming event. I really enjoy revolver the most, and wouldn’t have ever guessed that before I shot the first match ( I shot an M&P in SSP in my first match).

  5. In IDPA 9mm 1911’s are in ESP and 45’s are in CDP (though 45’s can also shoot in ESP but are at a disadvantage due to scoring being identical for 45 or 9mm in ESP since it is scored by time/seconds added).

USPSA has hit factors and scoring is different for major and minor calibers competing in Single Stack.

  6. +1 ^^^
I order 2K Federal once fired brass and use half as practice brass and half as match brass. I get split cases occasionally after 20 or 25 reloads. At the end of the match season it all becomes practice and I get another K of once fired stuff. No range brass! MWP is correct: Not worth it when moon clip fit is important.
I use a U Die and taper crimp with 3575 powder coated bullets. No bullet jump here either.

If I may ask, where do you purchase the once fired Federal brass?

  7. I had a lot of issues with loading 9mn on a Dillon 550b with Dillon dies. The bullets were not correctly aligned so the rounds wouldn’t chamber. I had to run each one through a case gauge. I traced it back to the seating die. I replaced it with a Redding competition searing die and issues disappeared. I don’t even check them in a gauge any longer. But that probably won’t be a fix for you with your model Dillon.

  8. I started with a 329PD in IDPA and USPSA last year to see if I like revolver for competition (just like you). GO for it! IDPA is limited to 6 shots and it's a great hoot! The speedloaders drove me nuts (I used HKS) and I really fumbled with reloads on the clock. My loads were Trail Boss under 240 LSWC. I would definitely suggest plated or coated to keep the amount of smoke down when shooting fast. Ultimately I decided on a 625JM with moonclips after figuring out I really liked the challenge of revolvers. My 329 was definitely smoother than the 625 was out of the box. And you definitely know you are not going to win the whole match with a revolver so it takes the angst out of it, the measure of success is how much fun you have and how you feel you improve. Plus it is fun when you do beat a bottom loader though I had a few matches where I finished dead last, but really didn't care. Enjoy yourself!!!

  9. Make sure the belt goes thru the loops:

    8.4 Belts
Belts may be no wider than 1 3⁄4 inches or thicker than 5/16 inches and must pass through a minimum of all but two of the pant loops.
