  1. I contacted them for round 2. They replaced the barrel...with another crappy barrel. The 2nd one had a gouge taken out of one of the rifling lands. 3rd round trip was necessary to finally get a barrel without any flaws in it. I shot it on Monday and again yesterday. Accuracy is good, 3x5 index cards at 20 yards, freestyle is good enough for me. Really sucked, having taken over 2 months to get a problem fixed. I don't understand why S&W doesn't just send out a new barrel. It's not like they are fitting the new ones, its a drop-in job.

Glad the issue is resolved now. I feel you on the S&W customer service. Maybe Glocks are popular for a reason :)

working at a dealer i have seen the same thing from glock

  2. there are 3 sears comercially available from apex. the standard hard sear and 45/shield hard sear. improved geometry for cleaner break etc compatable with the stock trigger and the apex AEK trigger shoes

then the FSS sear which pushes the break point further forward and then the FSS trigger or FF trigger shoes have overtravel stops built in. therefore reducing the overall trigger travel. these need the fss or FF trigger shoes to work correctly

  3. I have been reading about the Apex kits and the details along with them but I had a question about the trigger bar that comes with the M&P Pro. It has the "loop" to engage the sear. Could I not just adjust that loop to reduce take-up? I have read the Burwell slides as well about polishing and some filing/stoneing.

I like the trigger, but the take-up is very long. Please let me know if I am missing something.

    Thanks

without adding an overtravel stop decreasing the pretravel will increase your overtravel which is worse for accuracy because even with a perfect trigger pull the movement after the break will pull your sights off target

  4. Maybe it doesn't apply to revolvers.

Just for information: what constitutes a SA conversion for a revolver?

Can you just take the DA sear off the hammer so the DA trigger pull won't lift the hammer?

I never understood how it could be legal for a person who modifies the gun to SA then convert it back to DA/SA and sell to the end user. That sounds to me like manufacturing a firearm which is not on the approved list?

It is not manufacturing it's gun smithing which any type 1 ffl has the ability to do. In the same way as changeing sights or grips. You are selling a customer a single action revolver. They are taking possession leaving the store coming back and wanting it to be modified to shoot in double action.

  5. ok cool i was looking at the 38 super data and was wondering if that load data was good to use i was kinda looking at the 38 special data and the super and cross referencing them the super max pressure seemed alot higher though

i dont have a chrono but my friend is gonna bring one to the range on the weekend. but i work at an indoor range so i can test fire new loads easy.

  6. ok cool that gives me an idea. going bye the hodgden website i 146gr hp out of a 7 inch test barrel

    min 3.5 808 fps 119pf

    max 4.0 914 fps 135 pf

    +P 4.4 981 fps 144 pf

so if your getting 3.6 out of a short colt with a 5 inch

i might try 4.0 in my 4 inch with mids should get me close to where i need

i was using clays in special cases with the 147 and couldnt get a load to knock down the steel at my range even with .5 over max

  7. i need some advice on a load

    .38 mids (.900)

147 gr xtream plated .357 dia

    federal primers

with either clays or tightgroup powder

this is shooting out of a 627 pro with a 4 inch barrel

this is gonna be a load for uspsa and icore so 130-135 powerfactor hopefully

  8. send me some of your brass. If groove is wide enough to accommodate .025 clip, we can make them to fit

    dhearth@hotmail.com

thanks dave. it looks like i found enough federal and R-P after some searching. i believe i have shot with you a couple times at SLOSA with scott and randy.

  9. Next time one of you sees him in person, sneak up on him and cut his forearm with your pocket knife. I'll bet you that you'll find the terminator arm assembly under a layer of artificial skin because this just confirms he isn't really human. I think he's bidding his time to go all skynet on us.

im pretty sure i was told that very early in his career he had to have surgery on a tendon in his forearm. people apparently people joke that they shortened it so he could pull the trigger faster.

  10. I have no idea why the gun would be unsafe shooting single action with a light trigger or not.

The reason I have my hammers bobbed is because I get so high on the frame I catch an uncut hammer. I'm still trying to figure out what to do on the 617 about this problem.

The hammer being bobbed, it's lighter, which allows the hammer to move faster to ignite the primer, thus allowing spring tension to be removed, and the trigger weight goes down.

There was a shooter on the super squad this year at nationals with a full hammer still in his gun, and the trigger was 5.5lbs. It's doable, but the trigger can go even lighter with a lighter hammer.

  11. Yeh I do have a free source. And a lot of it is PMC I get hardly any remington ,thanks that's good to know. I'll just have to check them on the clips and make sure they fit well.

  12. i would like to say that at the club i shoot at the 8 shot minor rule has greatly increased revolver participation.

i am lucky to live 3 miles from the hogue range that the IRC is held at each year so it may be a little bit different. up until now i have just shot semi's in uspsa i have alot of friends that shoot revolver i went out and watched them shoot at the IRC last month and i thought it was awesome even just the the friendship between everybody was great to see unlike a typical large uspsa matches . a guy i didnt even know offered to lend me everything i needed to shoot the match (except ammo) if i wanted to which i wish i took him up on it.

to make a long story short i just last week ordered a 627 to shoot at next years IRC and i probably wouldn't have got one if the rules hadn't changed for uspsa because i would have had to buy two different revolvers to shoot icore and uspsa with and if i wanted to practice enough or even shoot with my uspsa friends . with that being said our icore club is almost dying because now everybody can shoot there Icore revolver in USPSA which has alwase had a larger turnout better stages ect and i believe this will also follow on to major uspsa matches. it might make it a bit tougher for icore clubs but its gonna benifit uspsa

some of our recent matches stats april 44 total shooters 15 revolver /may: 40 total shooters 10 revolver

so i can defiantly say this is going to be a good thing for revolver division

  13. for all the people that like online ordering and don't like the hassle of trying to get bear creek on the phone i just wanted to let you guys know about a place i found (on these forums) that sells Bear creek bullets online and actually has them in stock.

they don't have every bullet but all the most popular ones 180 .40, 230 .45, 124 & 147 9mm if there is something you cant find on his website send him an email and he could probably get it for you.

    www.extremeventuresnv.com

they are based out of Nevada

and my experience with them has been great amazing customer service

the owner even called me up to offer some free sample packs of new products he was trying and just started chatting for a while.

postage is reasonable and shipping is fast

i would defiantly recommend checking out these guys

  14. Australia dosnt have the ICS system as far as i know

i got graded bye doing a classifier stage basically 3 COF'S 3 paper 2 poppers in different orders.

generally these will grade you higher then you are coz there quite easy

our club GM shot it and to get GM grade you need like 18 HF or so he shot 26 lol

i used a diferent gun and ended shooting a C grade score when i was around low B high C

when i shot the last LV 3 match i got regraded to B because there was enough GM and M grade shooters

which is about where i was finishing.

if you want an estimate of what your shooting at just look at where you are finishing compared to other shooters grades
