  1. Just read your thread mgood, glad to hear it worked great for you I'm really looking forward to some practise and shooting a few matches with it, I won't be shooting it much over the next few weeks as I'm preparing for our IPSC provincials and I'll be shooting the CZ shadow in production and don't want to complicate anything learning a new gun/sights & grip till after

  2. Well I don't know how to post pictures on here But I had the STI uspsa 9mm out to the range yesterday and let me tell you I'm very impressed with it!! I only had the one factory mag with me so I only shot 125 rounds total but had no problems at all except that with my high thumb grip I use on my czShadow would slow down the slide

This thing is very accurate at 12 yards freestyle I can punch 1" holes and at 20 yards I was getting 2-3" groups using 124g Frontiers behind 4.1g of titegroup, can't wait to try some longer shots outside with my match loads (125g Zero's)

The fit and finish looks and feels great although I'm thinking of having it hard chromed down the road

The trigger is crisp and light with a average of 2.11 lbs The Fiber optic on the front (smaller than the CZ) is easy to find. The rear sight I find is nicer than the CZ sp01 shadow not sure why but this combination seems to be quicker to acquire according to the timer

It will take a bit of practise on my end with my draw and reloads and I will have to completely re examine my grip (high left thumb) on slide, but I'm sure once I work on these I will do just fine competing in IPSC classic division

Not knocking Kimbers as I've never shot or owned one but I did handle a few in the same price range before I bought this one and they didn't have as nice of a trigger and didn't feel quite as smooth as the STI does,

I guess the true test will be when my Tripp mags get here and I start with 300-400 round weekly practise sessions and see how reliable this combination really is

  3. I am ROing provincials on the Thursday(inside range) and shooting on the Friday, I'm signed up to shoot production with my czShadow I'm not even sure if I can change divisions and not sure if switching would be a good idea on my part with a new gun lol

plus I don't think my mags will all be here by then

    Darren

  4. Thanks Cowboy1629 I'm feeling confident in my purchase after reading good reviews on STI's product and customer service/satisfaction.

One quick question can I buy different springs for the recoil master to tune it to my load?

It should be here on Thursday can't wait to try it out

  5. My original idea was to buy the Trojan but there is non to be found in Canada and the waiting list with the importer seemed pretty long so I ordered one of these as there instock, I haven't seen one in person so I'm hoping its a reliable gun,

I don't have any experience with the 1911 platform and hope it works well, I'm wondering if I should upgrade to a Aftec extractor & a regular guide rod any one have any insight on this??

  6. So after shooting my shadow exclusively for 2 years I decided It was time for a new toy

So I bought a new STI USPSA in 9mm + I also ordered 6 Tripp Cobra Mags

I hope this combination will run reliably once I find a good load with my Berrys 124g RN

    Anyone have this same setup?

Any tips or tricks I should know about?

I will be shooting Classic division in IPSC

    Thanks

  7. I had the same issue with loading 223. I experimented with clipping a bit off the spring to reduce the 'snapping'.

I uploaded a YouTube vid on the process the other day when I was testing out a new camera, but I don't have permission to post links in posts yet. My YouTube channel is SounderAU if you want to look it up.

    Great video!
