Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I recently purchased a new 22/45. I installed the volquartsen cumstom Mark III accurizing kit and the Mark II hammer bushing (to get rid of the magazine disconnect), and installed the slingshot mod (by actually cutting the bolt release piece and installing a spring from a bic lighter). Had problems with the trigger not reseting. After trying the factory trigger plunger spring, reinstalling the original hammer and sear, after trying every adjustment on the volquartsen trigger I still couldn't fire more than 2 rounds with out having to manually cock the gun and eject a live round to reset the trigger so I could keep shooting. Finally figured out after much trouble shooting and many unsuccsesful trips to the range I finally cornered the problem. I reinstalled all the volquartsen parts including the volquartsen trigger spring and finally concluded that when I installed the sear I pushed it forward wwwwaaaaaayyyy to far and bent the sear spring so the sear did not have enough pressure against the hammer, leading to a negative reset. To fix it I took some pliers and bent the smaller prong on the sear spring a lot, (had to disassemble twice because the first time I didn't bend it back far enough). I took the gun to the range and shot 250 rounds through it without a single problem. The whole time I was trying to fix this gun I couldn't find any posts online that said how to fix this. Probably because at that point everyone who had the problem had taken it to a competent gunsmith by then. So if your hammer is not resetting bend the smaller prong of the sear spring so it holds the sear (rearward) toward the hammer with a lot of pressure and then reassemble. And remember don't push the sear forward past the slot where the safety holds it when you put your new parts because it will bend your sear spring so it won't hold the sear against the hammer good enough for the parts to reset. I hope this helps someone. P.S. That slingshot mod (with a bic lighter spring) is awesome.
