  1. I still shoot SSR and ESR at the local level of IDPA. That being said i was going to enjoy a year of shooting CDP and SSP and watch and see what holsters and loader pouches are accepted. When my revolver comes back to compete again it will be in the SSR class. Yes the revolver was my first love and remains so :P

For what its worth, the change in division may have happened with or with out the new rules. I shot the 2004 nationals as a master SSR, for 2005 I needed a change. (this may also be the case for others)

Hop, Mike hasent mentioned the icore match

  2. I shot SSR last year. Was my first nationals. This year i chose to try the waters in SSP. I hope the new revolver division does well :) For now i am happly waiting till the dust settles and revolver shooters equiptment stabalizes.

  3. Just got home from Indiana, what a well run match. Good job by all the SOs and MD. The match was very challenging and had a good round count. This is one i will make again :P

Congrats to both Bill N. and his wife they both did very well. :) (as a side note it was also nice meeting Bill even if briefly.

How did i shoot? I crashed and burned on a house attack stage :( (brain fade) so i ended up mid way in my class.

This has been one of the BEST major IDPA matches i have seen.

  4. OK on course rehearsals.

I drove over 100 miles to shoot in a major match. I am an active SO but was not at this match. We had one high level shooter that rehearsed every stage, to the point that all others in his group were distracted and were not even able to have a good match.. Most of the shooters ignored his airgunning theatrics as did the SO. When I finially had enough i started hollaring air gunning and everyone would stare at him,,, Now its not that i have a nazi attitude. But I ended up going to the MD to have him stop.....

My point is there is a line to be drawn....there was no proceedural given just a warning. But we have to start somewhere or tollerate the inconsiderate slob shooter like i did. As a result of my experience i will go directly to the MD and be re squadded. I will never shoot with that *** again :P

  5. OK now that i have my extension tube problem solved <_< . I found that my shot fun hates Fiochhi game and target loads. 1 1/8 oz. SO what do You guys do? Can i reduce the recoil spring or is there another trick to make them cycle? I was forced to use high brass at a side match today and I know there is a better way.

    Thanks

  6. I just got back from Badlands. We had equiptment check when u check in. If holster wasent compliant u were handed a heat gun. There was also a scale you handed gun and empty mag to be weighed. There was not chrono stage.

We ran in squads, which in most cases means that u have tapers.

The only new rule change that i saw make a difference was the FTN. Which just makes you call your shots better.

How did i shoot? I placed mid way in my class SSP EX

What did i learn? how to clear jams in a hurry

On a finial note it was a very well run match, MD and Sos were all very good.stages were a challenge.

The rest belongs in the hate column

  9. I just aquired a benelli M1 tactical, 181/2 barrel ghost ring sights, looks like a +2 extension. It came with improved and full choke tubes.

My question is with a +2 extension thats 5 shells + 1 carrier, It appears that a +4 will extend beyond the end of barrel :( so before i order one i need advice on how to get the most from my shotgun. one where to find best extension, or add new barrel legnth, plus what chokes might be usefull.

    Thanks in advance

  10. Well Talking of shooting :) , This year I have shot the Ark Winter classic, And Lousiana State match so far. The next few will be The Badlands, Then Arkansas State at CASA. Then its descide what to shoot at the nationals and practice practice practice  ...........now back to reloading....

    \

And try to fit in one 3 gun event sectional in before nationals :P :

  11. I was not aware there was a shoot that weekend...thats a shame Sam I looked for u at Lousiana state and u didnt show  .......and Bubber i dont even want to remember my monday night ICORE Squib load  ...But by the way thanks for the assistance gettin er out :P

  12. No pressure signs were apparent on the brass, in looking back at the falures of the load. The GAP brass was strong enough, But with the long chamber legnth of the 625 45 ACP there was room for the hollow base to expand and seal before the shoulder step on the ACP case and thus have nose shear off as it exited the cylinder with base being forced out in a spray behind it...

Just an example of trying to make a short cartridge do things it wasent designed to do

    Frederick Haring

  13. With the new rule changes i loaded up a bunch of the short 45GAP brass, fed primers 185 berrys HBRN behind 5.1 gr clays :o well i knew it should make major with a 4" 625 and be much easier to reload  To make a long story short HBRN plated bullets can have there hollow bases blown out when pushed to max pressures  Maybe this thread should be in match screw ups?.....anyways in the first string of fire all bases blew off and sent shaprenel into multible targets sending lead thru my revolver and tying it up.......I guesess im back to 45 acp cases. and yes it was a DNF match :(

  14. I have used only revolvers since 1975, I didnt shoot in IDPA till 2003, There i piddled with autos but shot only revolvers in major matches. Started shooting IPSC and using autos more. But my love is still for the revolver ;) We had informal matches at county range every weekend for 20 yrs...imigane the 9mm being beat by a 454.45-70, and 450 marlin mag. :P now that i compete my guns are bunny fart guns

  15. Sam, I will be making the trip your way. We will drive in friday night. Since I travel with other shooters we rarely compete against each other in the same class, We all are revolver shooters from NW Arkansas, But be as it may i will shoot CDP and another master will shoot revolver. Look foward to putting faces with names.. :)
