  1. I bought the shadow used, with the thin aluminium grips installed. I got a box with a bunch of parts with the gun, it looked like the original grips where missing, but i found them. I installed them, and the gun feels a lot better. I'm going to test them out this weekend. I allso wish to take a couple of classes, but that requires me to mount a light on the gun, and its a bitch to find kydex holsters for the sp01 with a light. I think that I might have to take the Glock to the classes even thou my CZ will now be my primary gun.
  2. So I have been training for IPSC production with my G17 and CZ 75 SP01 Shadow. I have been switching between my CZ and Glock to see which one I liked the most. I like the soft recoil of the CZ, and I know its a good gun, but i find the grip to small. I have allso had a couple of stovepipes and misfires with it. 1 in every 30 shots, I get a double tap due to the light trigger and my glock style of being straigth back on the trigger starting to prep. When using the Glock, everyhing changes, I might not be as accurate with it, but I feel a lot more secure with it. I am just as fast on the draw, the grip is perfect and the only thing I don't like about it is the trigger for longer shots. I love how much sturdier everything feels. Yeasterday it was -20*c and I tried both guns. When dropping the magazines in the snow, all the bullets got frozen up, but I just threw the mags back inn to see of I could get anyone to fail. They worked flawless. I have been looking at a P226 X-five SO DA/SA with the 4,4'' slide with external extractor. I feel that I might get the ultimate gun with the full steel weight of the CZ, Reliability of the glock and the grip thickness of the Glock. I don't have the chance to try it without buying it. Does anyone have any experience with an all steel p226, how it recoils compared to a CZ. Someone told me that the trigger on the sig is better but heavyer. The price is about the same for all practical reason. http://213.162.225.74/F0216/main.aspx?page=article&artno=P226%20X-Five%20SO http://www.wingevapen.no/index.php?do=product&id=3794 I understand that its now time to quit jumping between guns and start training with just one;)
  3. I came to the point where I was getting ready to order casting equipment for 9mm. I was going to order the Lee TL356-124-2r mold and a pot. Trying to get a delivery time from a few shops in Norway, the biggest one said something that I didn't think was that big of a problem. He said that he could sell me this items, but he recommended me to stay clear of lead bullets because of the smoke. He said that the smoke in 9mm was so bad that no one that shoots a lot would consider it. He said that it was useless for IPSC in 9mm because of the smoke. Is the smoke really that bad wit Lee Alox and lead in 9mm?
  4. In IPSC Classic division a bull barrel is allowed as far as I understand;) I was not planning on using the compensated .38 super barrel at all, but to use it with the 9mm barrel for Classic division Minor.
  5. I wasn't planning on buying a gun for IPSC Classic division yet, but then I came across a used Springfield Custom shop gun. I cant travel to try it, but its a chance I am willing to take. Is this a better Gun for IPSC Classic than let say a STI Trojan? A new trojan is around 10.500nok here in norway. The used Springfield comes with a STI bull Barrel, 8 magazines, a holster, a ported barrel in 38 super and a lot more, including a cheap red dot. The Springfield is 9.000nok. http://www.finn.no/finn/torget/tilsalgs/annonse?finnkode=37513359
  6. If the CZ and Sig would be just as good as each other, I would order two X-fives to have one as a backup for competitions. If the CZ is a much better choice I would order two custom CZ 75 SP01 shadow. here is the link for the CZ. http://www.wingevapen.no/index.php?do=product&id=2926 Aluminium grips Hammer spring changed to 13lbs recoil spring changed to 10lbs competition hammer By ordering two guns at the same time, I get a better price and if i buy one I have to buy spare mags, which is actually pretty expensive, when I buy two sets, I have enough mags also.
  7. I wasn't planning on using the X-Five short for Production class, but as more of a fun gun, and class gun. I have taken a couple of classes years ago, primary rifle but as a handgun as backup. Would like to take some more in the future.
  8. I see that one forum wrote that in the austrailian nationals in 2011 85% used CZ. Is the CZ a better gun than the X-Five, or is it that the CZ is normally cheaper and everyone is using one anyway, so why not me?
  9. the exchange rate to norwegian kroner is about 6, that tells you what everything will cost. the glock is around 6000nok or 1.000usd, and a new barrel is around 3000nok or 500 dollars at least. i get about 20% discont on the sigs, nothing on the cz which is around 10.000nok. Its also a lot more fun to do well with a gun that almost no one shoots, like the X-Five;)
  10. Thankfully They still produce the P226 X-Five allround tactical in Europe, which is DA/SA. the picture is the wrong one, but here is the specs. http://213.162.225.74/F0216/main.aspx?page=article&artno=34226054 Its on the production list as well;) as a HD gun they also sell a limited edition made for the Norwegian SF called the X5 short, which is a X% with a normal P226 slide, which should make a great HD gun, they can deliver a treaded barrel as well;) http://213.162.225.74/F0216/main.aspx?page=article&artno=34226955 here are all the primary Sigs they sell, they are all made in Europe of course, so the so called drop in QC at SIG USA is not a concern. http://213.162.225.74/F0216/main.aspx?page=articlelist&gid=1012&gidlevel=0 I have to use the allround or allround tactical for production, since they are the only one on the list;) I don't think I have a chance to test shoot them before I buy them:( Have to order them online, since nobody has the SIG x_five here at least. I am able to try the Shadow and a normal P226 without a beavertail. Not shore how much difference it is with an X-Five
  11. So I have put about 5.000rds downrange with a old glock 17. I have a new gen 4 that arrived yesterday at my dealer. I think everyone needs to own at least on Glock. Starting to get more and more hooked on IPSC shooting I think I need to reconsider some of my thinking. I have only shot for about 4 months, and usually placed in the top 25% at competitions. The competitions here is usually around 15 Production shooters and only 5 standard shooters, so Im pretty set on production. The last competitions my biggest problem is stages with a lot of N/S and only a small amount of scoring area at longer ranges. Here I can see how the SA is good thing. There is one practice a week at my club for IPSC, the rest of the week there is 25m bullseye and similar practices. I try to train at least twice a week for live fire using other styles of competition to fine tune accuracy and so on. I love the fact that the glock has the same trigger pull every time, is cheap, easy to use, have no external safetys, easy to transition between targets, and works every time. I belive that some of the reason why I place so high at competitions already is that my gun works every time while other guns seems to break down on a stage at almost every competition, nothing big, mostly mag related it seems. I see that almost all the top European shooters use a CZ, and I have tried one but it was to early in my shooting carrier to really feel the big difference. I called the norwegian importer of sig, who says that thay don,t have any extractor problems anymore on the X-Five, and that the check every weapon before sale. He could sell it to me for about the same price as a CZ. He was on the Norwegian team for almost 10 years in IPSC. He said that he liked the feel of the X-five better than the CZ, the sig had a better trigger and that even though the muzzle flip might be a bit bigger than the CZ, it was more consistent, which is even more important shooting one handed than the glock and CZ He also said that the build quality was better on the SIG. The SIG can also shoot lead cast bullets which the glock cannot without applying for and buying another barrel. Sadly I cannot shoot the Glock 34 in production, so that leaves me with 3 choices the Glock 17 with a stock trigger, the CZ SP01 Shadow and the SIG X-Five DA/SA. The CZ is is a pure range gun. Buying the X-Five, I can keep a normal P226 with a Suppressor and light/laser as a HD gun with a similar feel. Staying with glock, I dont get a SA trigger after the DA, but I know it works every time. and I can buy a Glock 34 for Bullseye to stay with the same system. Hoping I can get some good advice on which route to go. Not looking to save money on buying the cheaper one, but looking to getting the best gun for my use, both bullseye, IPSC and Home defence. I have no doubt that I will be able to master the DA, with the benefit of SA afterwards. I plan on casting bullets for all my practice ammo, that means that I have to buy a aftermarket barrel if I choose to shoot glocks. In norway that will brings the cost of a glock up to at least the same as the SIG/CZ
  12. So i dont need to resize the cast bullets and only tumble lube them? Which mold do you reccomend? Lyman 147gr a lee mold? Thank you for sone great help;)
  13. I was hoping to shoot the same load out of a P226, CZ75 and a Glock with a aftermarket barrel. Guessing they have different barrel diameters.
  14. I am considering starting to reload 9mm for production. I pay about 33 cents pr. 9mm in Norway. If I use my own cast bullets i can reload for 8 cents pr. 9mm. I reload all my rifle ammunition on a single stage press. I see that a complete cast and reloading setup will set me back about 2000USD here. Its hard to get some of the small reloading items here. I have as much free brass and lead as I can possibly want. I was planning on buying the Lyman 4 cavity 147gr mold. A Lyman 4500 Sizer and lubricator. I am also buying a complete dillon 650 setup. So I have a few questions;) Is the lyman 147gr a good choice? What lube should I use? Will it smoke much? is the wihtavouri N340 a good choice for powder? I am ordering the press from double alpha, and the casting equipment from Midway in Norway. I might end up shooting factory ammunition at Matches, but this will let me train 4 times as much;)
  15. I have just started shooting ipsc. I have done most of my shooting with the G17 but I also managed to get some time on the CZ 75, tanfoglio and several others. I see so many that complains on the Glock handgun, but it fits me perfect and its what i shoot the best. nobody here has a m&p, but so many say they are better. do you think the m&p would make me faster/more accurate? Keeping everything stock.
  16. I am looking into buying a HK P30L for IPSC production, the P30L is on the approved production list, but here comes my question. I got a great deal on a V1, but the published trigger weight is 4,5 pounds and the minimum for production division is 5 pounds. is it still approved since its on the list, or do I have to look for another variant? Do you recommend the DA/SA instead? Best Regards freezingduck
