  1. I was sorry to hear that Vic Pickett has passed.  I shot with Vic many years ago at my first IRC.  I was in the "K" Squad.  Vic gave everyone a Kazoo.  I still have mine.  Vic was at the top of his game when Jerry was still shooting the IRC's, so Vic was the perennial second place finisher.  I'm sure it bugged him, because Vic was a great competitor.  Vic was at home on the range and had his fun.  For Sunday shoot offs after the match, you would see him with his rubber chicken, and his flare for tossing the last moon clip high in the sky.  Vic had an ongoing practical joke battle with the Hogues that was legendary. At the awards ceremony, it was always Vic who cried, "Ozzy Ozzy Ozzy".  I was never sure what this was about, but re all responded Oye, Oye, Oye.  So long Vic.  You'll be missed.  Richard

BHBret, those 230s look way too short.  Seat them out longer and you will probably get better accuracy.  OAL should be 1.272 - 1.275

They look short to me also.  What really caught my eye was the crimp.  I put a taper crimp on mine. You're reloads may by catching on the case, rather than a bullet problem.  Richard.

  3. Welcome Clamper 13.  Tracy is almost the local hotbed for revolver shooting.  Richmond Hot Shots has an occasional ICORE match, and well as USPSA shooting twice a month.  San Luis Obispo Sportsman Club has a monthly ICORE match as well as USPSA,  I shoot at The Oakdale Sportsman Club Twice a month.  We have a fair revolver turnout, especially before a major revolver match when we put away the autos and concentrate on revolvers.  Rich Wolfe won high overall against all divisions last match.  He seemed unbeatable.  At least until he ran into Poggie at last weeks Regional in Fallon.  Check websites for dates and times.  Oakdale is close to Tracy.  Bring your revolver, we'll show you the ropes.  Richard.

  4. MWP, Poggie, is showing the modesty of a Champion.  He was High Overall at World Shoot.  Plus he just won the Revolver Nationals.  Oh, and he kicked everyone's butt at the Steel Challenge Championships.  I declare this the year of the Poggie.  Way to go Mike.

at this weekends Area 2 match,  limited 10 and Revolver divisions will not be recognized due to not enough people being signed up.    I got a spot for the match this last weekend and was kind of shocked with this info.   I'll be running my 627 in production since I don't use a race style holster, unless I'm running open.

This is the death knell.  Rich Wolfe, returning multi year revolver champion, will not be shooting revolver.  If the division will not be recognized, no prize table.  Look for Rich to shoot limited with a bottom feeder.  Sad.

  6. Try Smith and Wesson. I recently received a 327 cylinder I've had on back order since last November. I think these became available because they needed ti cylinders for the 929. Maybe they can use blank cylinders for a run of 625s. My new 327 cylinder would not fit on yolk. A call to S&W resulted in a little song and dance. Well, you know these are not drop in parts, and you are not competent you should not attempt installation. I've never had a problem with cylinders before. They had another cylinder in stock so I ordered it. Must have been the same run because it didn't fit either. Now I have two to send back. I think they just missed a step in the milling operation. The fit is not close. Good luck. Looks like I need a little too. Richard

  7. Someone needs to call Jerry and tell him he needs to give the 3gun guys a break and come beat up on us revolvers for a weekend.

Well, apparently ( or so I hear ) Jerry will not be attending the 2014 Revolver nations because he will be doing a 3 gun.

If its true, then no one is shooting for second place.
So your saying there's a chance....

hell ya! Gotta aim for overall win.

its pretty disapointing jerry wont be there. It'll be interesting to see who comes out on top. IMO it'll be a toss up between olhasso leatham griffin and lentz. Though I think leatham will do really well, looks as though he's been putting alot of time in with the revolver

With all that revolver has done for Jerry, and Jerry has done fore revolver, I would be surpised if he does not find a way to shoot this match. Oh, and beware of the Wolfe. He's hungry!

  8. Well, I dropped in a Wolff reduced power mainspring and rebound spring. Trigger pull went from 12 lbs down to 8 lbs and I haven't even polished anything yet. Took it to the range and went through 50 rounds without any problems. It's a lot more enjoyable to shoot now. :D

I happened to be there when David showed up. It's not any more enjoyable to be around. It was starting to get dark. Talk about a fireball! David has his speed loaders ready to go for the next match. Oh boy!

  9. Wolfe and Bagakis are off to Thibodaux to take on Jerry in his own backyard. Good luck with that! Is this the last go around with the 625? Maybe not. Rich and I have put in some serious practice for a number of weeks. Rich with his 625 and me with a new rebarreled 627. Minor scoring has been somethihng of an eye opener. It's a lot to overcome. Of course at the end of the day, Rich's hand hurts and mine doesn't. The rule change has been well received at the club level. We'll see how it all works out.

  10. It might very well not be the full 50 yards. They have varied the tasks and the par times over the years. I think (but am not sure) that last year's went to 35 yards.

Pretty sure I have never seen anybody go prone.....but I believe it would be allowed.....depending on the par time, it may not be a viable option.

Unknown distance. Unknown time. How's a guy suppose to "groove it in". Geez.

  11. What have you heard Richard? They are making the Bianchi Target a legal target this year. ( The one with the printed rings in black and the blackout 10 or X Ring. At least that is the jest I got for the Web page. Inquiring minds want to know.... Later rdd

Hey Bubber. I found the new target was adopted in Cylinders Turn, but haven't seen anything official for its use in Far and Near. I'm using the Carmoney Method of score enhancement. Just wanted to be sure I'm shooting at the right target. I also noted in CT that I'm getting younger! No longer a super senior. Life is great. I'm going back to open this year after two years of shooting limited. I've got a new blaster that shows some promise. I'll see ya there, my red necked friend.
