  1. The dealers are all out of the nice IFG/EAA six inch guns. Some have one or two 45 or 40 Bullseye models but no Hunter or LTD SA or 9mm elite match pistols and no one knows when more will be coming across the pond.

I'm thinking my best bet to get near the gun I want is to get a 9mm longlside kit for my Witness steel 45 and maybe convert the trigger to SA only. I love the feel of the Witness large frame, fits my big hands better than any other I have tried. My question is , Does the full length dust cover on the Witness "match" frame make much difference in the over all slide to frame fit and by extension make the gun inherently more accurate ?. I already have a .22 longslide and love the sight picture with the supersight so I know I will like the 9mm LS . I will not be competing or "carrying"with this pistol, range toy only. I like 45 acp pistols but hate to feed them for plinking.

  2. For kicks I tried my Witness steel 45/22 .22 conversion slide on the Armalite. The slide fits good but when the slide stop is inserted the back of the slide is about 1/8" beyond the frame and it is a no go for function. I mainly tried this in an attempt to find out if my slide would work on a Tanfoglio P19L which we know to be a small frame Tanfoglio.

  3. Might have to settle for a Hunter in 45 then buy a long slide 9mm conversion for it.Historically I have a thing for handguns that have limited support and availability. I hate shiny guns but would put up with it for a Bulls eye. A Hunter may be easier to find and it would work with my .22 Long slide and a 9mm Long slide and it would be all black.

  4. I was considering one but I though for a 9 only 15 rounds maybe be low? Can you give us a writeup on how it performs?

Thus far I am very happy with it.The frame mounted Browning style safety is a big plus IMHO.The issue I had with the "hump" on top of the right grip is a non issue when shooting. With a high hold this "hump" helps me focus on using the tip of my finger on the trigger and that is a good thing. I may still get or make some wood grips for it but I did not buy this to be a pretty gun. What few reviews that are available harped on the weight, this pistol is not all that heavy. My current carry gun is a Taurus OSS and the Armalite is no heaver than it is.I thought this purchase over for a number of years and I'm glad I finally did it. If certain regulations get put back in place fifteen rounds my seem like a bunch once more.

  5. Took my EAA/Tanfoglio with 22 conversion to the range friday. It never missed a beat, and was accurate as could be.

The lack of a last round hold open kind of got to me when I shot mine.I do wish it would function better with cheaper bulk ammo, it does well with CCI MM. I've had a Ruger 22/45 for a while now and it serves well for a trainer. The Ruger "feels" like many pistols and is completely reliable with any ammo I've feed it. Only hade the 45/22 Witness out once(only had one week) I'll reserve judgement until I hit a couple of bricks through it.

  6. Any reason you decided to go with the Armalite over the K2, considering they are both Sarsilmaz?

I wanted another 9mm and the Armalite just 'spoke" to me. If the K2 was offered in 9mm I may have considered it but the Sig 210 inspired slide on the Armalite is mighty sexy and that also played into my decision.

  7. For a few years I have fought the urge to buy a Armalite AR 24 pistol. I told myself all the reasons why not to do it.Made in Turkey,Lack of aftermarket, lack of parts, likely little customer support, kind of expensive when compared to similar handguns. In the end the graceful SIG 210 style forged slide and forged frame won me over. I purchased it without even holding one and that is risky especially with my great big Grape Ape like hands. The pistol seems to be very well made and everything I read about the fit and finish being top shelf is true, I am impressed. Only time well tell if there will be support issues or any needed. Researching which after market mags and grips will and won't work can be dizzying, for now I will just order some more mags from Armalite, I know they will work.

Over the weekend I took the AR 24 to the range along with my new Witness steel 45/22 combo. I only brought 100 Winchester 115 gr FMJ 9mm and shoot those in short order with no issues. The sights are great and the rear adjust easily. The rear sight seems very sturdy I do not see it loosing zero from use. As advertised the double action is a BEAR. I did put a little moly grease on the usual trigger components.Single action is not bad at all, it is a nice combat trigger. More to come.

  8. I own a 9mm and a 45 OSS. There is nothing else thus far that suits me better. IMHO the safety is the best thought out ever, up to de cock, middle safe, down off safe. I love the ability to carry loaded and de coked and the possibility of de cocking during fire is near zero. High hold thumb on safety, no worries. I wish I had bought more of them.I hate that Taurus discontinued these and other similar designs with the same trigger and safety.Taurus's major flaw in my opinion is that their marketing has bought into the planned obsolescence that sells everything today from cell phones to firearms.Among the under thirty crowd anything designed last year is OLD and antiquated.

  9. Well now I have gone way off topic with regards to particular firearm I mentioned in the title. Picked up the Witness and AR24/tc yesterday evening. The EAA witness 45 may be the most natural feeling handgun my Grape Ape hands have ever had in them. The AR 24 feels a little weird.I hate the hump on top of the grip when taking a high hold. In hind site I should have got the Tanfoglio P 19 L instead. The overall fit of AR 24 is great and the adjustable rear sight seems to be well made and should hold where set. If I cannot get used to the "hump" on top of the right side grip I'll grind the rubber down and hope even the most ticky lawyer at Armalite would not consider that voiding the warranty. By the way the Armalite warranty is only a five year and they require a copy of sales receipt to be sent in with the warranty card. I found the bit about the receipt in kind of small print on the back of the card.

My next pistol(next year) will likely be a CZ sport tactical 9mm or the Tanfoglio 19 L . I wish Tanfoglio made their Bullseye or Hunter in a 9mm.

  10. Well, I've been wanting a EAA Witness steel 45/.22 LR combo for a while and Bud's got some in and I could not resist. If I like the Witness 45 well enough it may become my "carry". I like the idea of practicing with basically the same model in .22 lr. I also ordered a Armalite AR 24 tactical. I know that there is a chance that Armalite may drop the Turk made CZ75/Sig 210 clone because now EAA is importing the 45 version and I assume will soon import the 9mm version. The current EAA K2 pistols do not have the forged in checkering to the frame and for me that is a major selling point.I have let fear of "not made here" guns keep me from ordering the Armalite for many years but decided to take a chance on one. IF I decided to try my hand at some IDPA I assume the EAA standard Witness 45 is legal but what about the AR 24 ?

  11. I've been wanting an all metal 9mm with an adjustable rear sight and the ability to fire single action . Almost bit on a CZ sport tact but in the end a cannot justify the cost to myself.I won't be competing in any big pistol matches any time soon. I mainly shoot Service rifle and 3P Smallbore. My club has three handguns matches per year which are mainly 25 yard standing slow fire using a standard silhouette. Tried out a friends CZ 75 bd, man I hate that de cocker. The only decocker pistols I own are two Taurus OSS pistols(these are my carry guns and likely always will be) and that de cocker makes since to me, up on the safety to decock. I grew up shooting 1911 pistols and naturally take a high hold with my gorilla hands and my thumb needs a manual safety to reside on.When I shot the 75 bd I was constantly de cocking it. I wonder why so many designs feature a push down to decock safety?

I was about to order a CZ 75 from Bud's and install an adjustable rear sight on it when I found the IFG Tanfoglios P 19L at Bud's. http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/cPath/21_1189/products_id/411552624/IFG+TANFO+P19L+9MM+

Like many photos on Bud's the description does not match the gun. Listing has checkered Walnut grips.I find very little information on this pistol online. It seems to be a good deal but I would like to know more about it before I hit the go button. Is the safety a manual safety that does not decock ? What kind of warranty does IFG Tanfoglio have ? What mags will work in it ? Is the trigger the same as the old style CZ 75 in that when the slide is racked or the hammer is manually cocked the pistol is in single action mode ?

Also I have very big hands, XXL gloves. The CZ 75 bd seemed a tad small but I can work around it. The IFG "Bullseye" in 9mm would seem to me a perfect range toy but I do not think they make them in 9mm.Thanks in advance for any information.
