  1. Just to clear up how I'm going to use the 327, it's going to be a dedicated Steel Challenge revolver, and I will be using .38 special brass and bullets left over from my cowboy action shooting days.  I've bought moon clips for the .38 specials and have developed a 100 PF load.  I'm excited to compete with it.

  2. I have a new TRR8 that I'm doing a little smoothing on.  It has a part inside that I'm not familiar with.  Research shows that it is a Bolt Block.  Apparently, it slides up between the cylinder release and the frame at some point in the operation.  I plan on leaving the hammer block out when I reassemble, should I leave out this Bolt Block too?  I can't really figure out what its purpose is or what activates it.  Thanks, Doug

Yes.   Google hotels Corpus Christie and you will see several to pick from.

I'm just trying to figure out if one hotel is closer to the range than another.  It's been a long time since I've been there, I'm sure it's changed a little since 1968.

  4. I should have been more specific, I load 9mm for auto, but I have a separate set-up for 2 929 revo's I load for, using heavy  .357-.358 sized bullets.  It sounds like there's a 327 in my future!  Thank you for the advice!

  5. I have the hots for a 327 TRR8, but i'm heavily invested in 9mm components.  So my question is, can I shoot 9mm through a 327, could I use the 929 moon clips I already have, or would it need reaming.  Could it even shoot 9mm?  Thanks, Doug

It's too weak to run reliably in my PCC, I haven't tried it in a handgun.

  8. I run CCI Standard Velocity or Mini Mags in mine.  I shoot Steel Challenge and I can't tolerate any clicks.

I practice with some of the other brands already mentioned, except Winchester.  I bought a bunch of

M22 in the black box and have had miserable luck with it.  I'm pretty leery of any Winchester .22 now.

  9. I shoot a GMR-15 in Steel Challenge, so I will limit my opinion to your magazine question.  Glock magazines are the way to go.  I use the 33 round and the 17 rounders.  I personally don't see the need for magazine extensions.  Remember, in SC the extra weight of all of that ammo will potentially make the gun heavier and slow you down.  Just my 2 cents.

  10. I bought one from Optics Planet about a month ago and installed it in my GMR-15 with a Hiperfire Eclipse.  It definitely shoots softer than the SCS I was using.  I'm having issues with it firing, loading a fresh round, but not cocking the hammer, or possibly hammer follow, I'm not sure which.  It happens every time on the very first mag, very first shot.  Then, it runs like it's supposed to, but with sporadic no fires.  I eject a live round, then continue shooting.  I don't think it is the fault of the Maxim, probably the Hiperfire and my load.  My load is a 115 gr. Berry's with 3.8 gr. of Sport Pistol.  I' m going to try going up to 4.1 Sport Pistol.  I'm also going to try to raise the pressure with a 124 gr. bullet and 4.4-4.8 grs. of CFE.  I'll let you know how it goes.

It is definitely harder to pull the charging handle.  Nothing unmanageable, just harder.  I really like the Maxim when my gun is running like it's suppose to.  But again, I don't think my problems are caused by the new buffer.

  11. I'm trying to install a Hiperfire E in my GMR15.  Geez, JP uses a ton of Loctite!  Anyway, I finally got the JP trigger removed and the Hiperfire installed, but now I can't get the JP safety drum to go in the receiver.  Do I need to take the Hiperfire out and reinstall it with the safety already in the receiver, or does it require a different safety altogether?  This has been a frustrating project.  Thanks for any help or insights.  Doug

  12. Hey Guys,  I recently bought a used GMR-15 with the short, lightweight barrel, in Omaha.  I've shot it some, 300-400 rounds and its dependable as I expected it would be.  I've purchased 4 tungsten weights and the auxiliary spring kit from JP.  Right now, my load is 3.8 grs. of VV N310 with a Berrys 100gr 9mm hollow base bullet.  I'm interested in what springs and weights you are using in your GMR-15, or in any additional advice on the gun.  Thanks, Doug

I forgot to mention that this is for Steel Challenge, hence the light loads.
