Anyone have experience with the Henning basepads?

I tried the Springer and the Henning for my legion CO setup.  I have used Henning standard basepads on CZs, Glocks, and Sigs and love the quality. For Carry Optics I prefer the Henning Extended basepads with grams springs. I like how the henning is retained on the magazine and it is slightly lighter than the Springer. If I had it to do over again I would have ordered all Hennings and never tried the Springers.

  2. I transferred one of the first 1911s Carne built for a good friend of mine. I will say the trigger on it was better than my wilson combat classic and on par with all of my canyon creek customs. As other people have said, a lot of people have specific desires on their triggers. I have talked to Mark several times over the past few years at matches and I am pretty confident, if he knew the type of trigger a shooter wanted he could get it tuned specifically to them.

    I have an update:

So it turns out I don't have an overtravel screw in my trigger, there's just a hole there. I tried working the hammer with the trigger fully back and it felt pretty smooth.

I did notice a new issue. When I pull the trigger, then rack the slide and gently let the trigger out to reset, if I then gently started to squeeze the trigger again, occasionally (about 1 in 5 times) I hear a click and the sear seems to begin to disengage. The hammer also moves a little. If I release the trigger there, the hammer will fall to half cock with the trigger. If I squeeze the trigger fully, the hammer drops as usual. Any ideas about this?

Did you inspect the hammer hooks for wear? Is there a fitted disco installed?  What about the screw "Yigal" posted the picture of. Did you confirm that was tight? That screw can back out, as it is staked from the factory. If you removed it, it could cause some problems if its not tight and loctited in place. Do you have a spare sear spring to drop in it and try?

Could you clarify what you mean by working the hammer? So pull the trigger all the way to the rear, and wiggle the hammer?

Thanks all for your suggestions so far, will check the various screws in the morning

Pull the trigger to the rear and hold it. Grab the hammer with your other hand and work it from all the way down to all the way cocked a few times. It should be smooth as it comes back and as it goes down. If the screw I referenced is too far in(too little over travel) you will feel it, as the sear will feel like it is grinding on the hammer as it goes back and forth. If it feels super smooth, you are probably good.

  5. Check the set screw in your trigger. A long time ago I had issue with that screw getting loose and actually over-tightening itself which puts pressure on the sear. This caused some doubles and burst fire. If you pull the trigger to the rear and work the hammer it should feel smooth and you should feel no pressure of any parts engaging or catching. If yours does that the over-travel screw is too tight and causing your issues. I ended up taking that screw out in a couple of my guns as, even with loctite, it would eventually work itself out and the benefit was less than negligible. If you rule out this I would replace the sear spring as posted above and inspect the hammer hooks. Not sure what your round count is, but have heard some shooters wearing out the hammer hooks and the gun doing some goofy stuff.

I submitted the rebate online when I bought my Legion for $200 credit in the Sig store. When I arrives, I plan to buy a tungsten grip. Did anyone else submit for the rebate?

I submitted for the rebate as well. Plan on using my rebate for another TXG grip as well.

Does anyone know of a shop on the east(ish) side of the country that does it?  I contacted a couple of local "gunsmiths" and neither of them do it and one of them didn't even know what I was talking about.

Also, is this the right tool?  Brownells only seems to have this Clymer in stock.

I used this exact Clymer Throater for a couple shadows and my Czechmates. You will take more time setting up then you will turning the handle. The czechmate I had is a new one and I didn’t run into fighting coating on the barrels as some have. Good luck.

  8. A few shooters at are club have had some similar issues, however both of them were running the extended safety. After putting the gun through the paces they realized there support hand thumb was touching the slide and inducing the malfunctions. They both switched to the flush safeties and the problems went away.

    email sent to dnroi

With your experience on CZs I am sure the question was great. Keep us posted when you get something back. Thanks for doing it.

sounds like it's a good  time now to make it Production legal. Who needs to submit the paperwork?

It sounds like based on Stuart's comment and the recent ruling on hammers, someone could send the official question to DNROI to get an official ruling if adding the accu-bushing to it would be an allowable modification. In all honesty removing the factory bushing and tapping the slide is all internal modification and the external part is on a production approved gun, so it actually makes more sense than the hammer.

  11. I 2nd this. I did this on mine. It is the same safety system and no fitting required. It makes actuating the safety a more natural feel to me than the improved CZ Custom model or the one that comes standard on it.

  12. I have ran one of the thermal printers for about a year now. Saw one of Eugene's youtube videos and did the same. Haven't really had an issue with the thermal printers. Sat it in the sun all day multiple times and still working. The issue I have running at club matches is the inexperience on the scoring devices and most of our stage devices are the legacy non-bluetooth versions. On the android I used the POS Printer Driver app as  the interface for the bluetooth thermal printer. From the approve scoring screen tap the top corner that says share and it will print. I personally would rather see more of these at Level 2 matches than seeing ROs copy on to sheets. Just more of a chance of human error while copying, which I have seen quite a bit over L2 matches.

I have the palm swell bogies on my shadow and I don't think they are aggressive enough, for me anyway.

If you like the aggressiveness of VZ it might be worth the call to them and see if they would cut them for you. Not a lot of options out there that I have seen. Good luck.

  14. Check out LOK grips. I got a set of Bogies for mine. Just send him an email letting him know you have a TSO and he will cut them for the magwell. I also had him make them a bit thicker than the standard set on the website.  I am more than pleased with the aggressiveness and bite of them.

Does anyone knows what is the factory main spring # and recoil spring # for the shadow 2?

Does the shadow 1 trigger spring works in the S2? I have one available but not sure

    thanks

The ones I had a part appeared to have a 15lbs main and 13lbs recoil spring. I went with the 13# main and an 11# recoil.

I use an 8lb recoil and have never had a feeding problem, ever.

I ran the 10# offered here in the US and really liked it on my other Shadows. How does the 8# spring differ in feel compared to the 10# or 11#? How many rds are you typically running on the 8# spring?

Guess you're a lucky one! My stock hammer has so much creep!

I find these hit or miss over the years. I had 2 accu-shadows set up the same way and noticeable differences between the 2. Same with 2 of my prior Shadow Targets. I guess it comes down to enough variations between what parts they use and how they pair them all together.

If I see you at a match sometime I would like to check yours out once you put that CGW trigger in.

whats the recoil spring everyone is using. I believe I swapped to a 10 or 11 #. On occasion I'm having an issue with the gun failing to feed. As if the round is getting stuck about half way into the chamber. Any recommendations?

Also I went to pull out the extractor from the slide. I couldn't get the pin out of the upper slide. anyone else had this issue?

I'm also looking at just swapping my front sight for a dawson fiber optic. Any recommendations on a front sight height with 135 grain BBI ?

current mods on my S2 include, new disco, czc comp hammer, thintex grips, 10 # recoil spring. The trigger feels identical to my accushadow. I'm loving the gun so far. Just looking forward to getting it dialed in 100 percent.

I am running an 11# spring. I have not tried the 10# yet, but really digging the feel of the 11#. I have not had any feeding issues with my S2.

Front sight I swapped out for the  Dawson Front sight in.240 tall and .100 wide. I have not had to adjust might rear sight at all and had no issues with groupings at 50yds, but POI is fine 20yds and in. Granted I am not running the BBI 135 I am running the SNS Coated 135gr loaded to 1.130.

I have done similar mods. I fitted a disco added the LOK Palm Swell Grips, 11# recoil. I left the shockbuff in it. My trigger is excellent in SA but about 1# heavier in DA, but as smooth as my best accushadow. I noticed the improved TRS on the S2 seems like it is a lot stiffer, so that could attribute to the heavier pull over my accushadow, but have not tried the cz custom TRS I used in my accushadow. The DA weight does not really concern me or affect my shooting, so to me reliability is more important. I also added a CZ custom hammer, but could not notice any big improvements, so just dropped the stock hammer back in the gun.

I've heard several things stating Cajun parts being PRD legal, but can't find anything on the USPSA site stating such, where are you finding these to be legal?

The bushing - I could see them accepting since you cannot buy a replacement bushing from CZ-USA and it's basically an internal part.

Hammers... i cannot see how they would make that production legal.  The intent is for production parts, until production shops started releasing race hammers themselves, but the CGW race hammer is in no way associated with USPSA.  I'd love some clarity on this - is this something you just email DNROI and he emails you back and you keep that email in your range bag?

I believe this is the ruling they are referring to. It goes into affect next week.

Replacement Hammers, Production and Carry Optics

    Question:
I want to replace the hammer on my Production/Carry Optics gun with one from an aftermarket shop. Are aftermarket hammers legal replacements in Production and/or Carry Optics, even if the external shape of the hammer is different?
    Answer:
As long as the internal parts of the hammer used as a replacement function identically to the internals on the OFM hammer, replacing the hammer is allowed, despite the outward appearance. For example, an OFM hammer that functions as part of a decocking system can be replaced with an aftermarket hammer that looks externally different as long as it continues to function as a decocker hammer. Changing the function to a manually decocked hammer is not allowed, as this essentially changes the model of firearm.

2 random questions in case anybody has already added these:

    1. Dawson front sight: which height would be appropriate? .240?

    2. I know old SP01 grips fit. However, I know the SSI scales have such tight tolerances that i'm wondering if they fit the new frame?

If you are using the Dawson Front sight the .240 is the correct height to get.
