I have also found it has a lot to do with the angle with regard to the muzzle that the gun is being held when performing a reload. In my experience the muzzle is slightly up with the grip to slide angle at about 20-30 degrees. I personally have never had to apply what i feel is "too much" force behind my reloads for my M&P Pro to auto forward, at the above angle it auto forwards every time and takes a round with it.

Get a stippled backstrap and some grip tape.

Btw, in the 4.25" gun the tungsten guide rod works great with a 13# recoil spring (124g FMJ w/4.0g N320).
Ive been giving heavy consideration to getting the tungsten guide rod for my 4.25", i am already running the 13# spring on the stock captured rod. Have you noticed a significant amount of improved muzzle flip with the tungsten guide rod? It seems to me that would be the only improvement over the stock rod.

My 4.25" pro 9mm hasn't had any accuracy issues except for the nut behind the wheel, from everything i read it seems to be the full size versions (5 inch) that seem to be the problem child. As mentioned this is unfortunate because the M&P is a very ergonomic gun.

+1 for the apex parts, although i hear nothing but good things about the Burwell trigger job

Go with the 550 if you plan on reloading multiple calibers.

Way to go man, welcome to the addiction.

God bless you for your service, your going to love that Dillon.

The stippled backstraps from SSS are real nice when combined with the Dawson grip tape. Plenty of grip but your hands are bleeding at the end of the day.

I'm running the 13lb spring with the standard guide rod and 125 grain loads with 4.5 grains of Solo that make 130ish power factor. No problems so far and I've ran probably 1000 rounds through it.

My m&p pro 9 is about a year old so it is a "newer" model and it will easily shoot a 4" group at 25 yards. I have the competition apex kit in my gun along with the RAM and its much better than stock components. The RAM does wonders for the trigger reset.

Is registering saturday morning going to be a problem? We planned on arriving at 7 a.m. saturday morning, we shoot at 8 a.m. saturday.

Yeah that's kind of what I was thinking, I'm going to work them up slow it just seems this batch is awful slow.

Guys I worked up some loads for my 4.5" M&P and I've got a few questions about my loads. I'm loading 125 grain with a 1.130 OAL and 4.5 grains of powder. I'm having trouble getting these loads to make 130 power factor. Most of these loads are chronoing in the range of 990 to 1020 fps. Is this just a weak batch of Solo or am I missing something? Any help would be much appreciated, the plan right now is to work up some 5 grain loads and see how they chrono.

That is a good looking gun but the STI is definitely a cheaper alternative and in my opinion just as reliable.

Also if you are close to Starkville, we have a student ran club sport called Mississippi State Shooting Sports. We usually have a non sactioned USPSA style competition once a week (satursday) at the Starkville Gun Club. It gives us some great practice time and is way to introduce some new people to the sport. If you would be interested in coming to a "match" sometime shoot me a pm.

Welcome from Starkville, Ms. We make the trip down to Magnolia every month to shoot their USPSA match. Theres some IDPA around Tupelo and Corinth. Quite a bit going on in Mississippi.

Speed Shooters Specialties has the stipled backstraps:
This coupled with the Dawson front grip tape you should have plenty of grip.

Go with the APEX sear and USB and i think you would have a trigger you would be more than happy with, or send it off to Burwell.

What size FO front for the Dawson with an M&P9 full size?
I went with the dawson adjustable rear and dawson FO front on M&P Pro 9. I used the .285 height and .125 width front sight and it works like a charm and there is plenty of adjustment left in the rear sight.

Sent my application in today, looking forward to it.

We are going to a wedding and the reception is Saturday night. Sunday morning will probably be a little rough...
